My '99 B5 A4 1.8t was the victim of a premature TB failure. VW/Audi is covering the 2000 - 2003 A4, and the '99 Passat under the settlement agreement.
I am interested in gaining the inclusion of my A4 in the setttlement. My understanding is that my motor is the same motor that is in the '99 Passat, so it seems logical to me that it should be covered as well.
I called Audi of America customer service with this question. After much questioning, I received two responses that don't make much sense to me:
1) " a proper maintenance schedule was in place from the beginning of production to delivery of the vehicle". When asked if it was different than the Passat the CS rep was unable to answer (note that the Audi CS and VW CS are in the same building, he dodged the question of whether the supervisor worked for both Audi and VW, and would not answer any questions about the corporate structure) Does this sound like a defensible position to anybody?
Upon further questioning he went to see if a supervisor was available, Brandon claimed they were busy, but would return my call w/in 8 hours, and now he had more information that he could pass along:
2) There was a previous campaign that covered the A4, the "JK Campaign". When asked whether the Passat was included in this campaign he had no information and he had no details about the "JK Campaign". Does this seem like a defensible position for Audi to anyone?
