Anyone replace a door latch (door won't shut)

thought it was just needed aligning, but body shop said it needs a new latch: part number 4D1837016D, which is a $120 part . Didn't know if anyone has had this issue before and if there is any other solutions? The door closes but does not lock into place and keeps bouncing back...if you try to close it enough it eventually closes though, it locks just fine. I've searched online for used parts, but with no luck yet. Any suggestions?

got the part off ebay for $46 used. Will install probably this weekend so I'll let you know how it goes.

it pops back open ? or wont shut at all and bounce back ? you can take your key or a flat head and move the piece of the latch to let it close

do you have problems with the dash telling you your door is still open when it is not? You know that little screen showing the door is open, it also chimes if the key is on.

I had my passenger side door do that, and they tell me the contact is in the door latch that electronically tells computer door is shut or not. I had to unplug the connector in the passenger side kick panel to get it to shut off.

the only thing now is when ever I open the passenger side front door, no inside lights come on at night. so when you replace the part make sure you hook that part up right or you may have problems with the chime and light on the dash.

I should take a vid of it...it's hard to explain, but basically I believe the latch is electronically activated when the door is shut to latch and keep the door shut. So, with this not working the door shuts, but doesn't latch so the door just bounces back. You can manually shut it by using continual force when closing the door, but it takes a couple times usually. All electronics work fine, door warning shows open and shut still and curtisy lights still work when door opens.

Have to wait till next weekend to install. Sent me the wrong part. I'll keep you updated. Installs probably going to be a bitch if it's anything like my bmw.

Sometimes when close my driver door it will appear to be completely shut but the center display will say its still open and keep beeping. I then have to slam the door shut before it will register as closed. Now i have been noticing a pattern that it will only happen if its hot out and the sun has been shining on that side of the car for a while....strange shtuff

I have had same thing happen to me the door wouldn't stay shut. I took it in and I believe they said the rod or whatever piece was stuck and they just lubed it up.
