Dyno results! 335xi... Catless... PROcede V3... 100octane

Thought some of you might be interested...

It's been almost a month, so I thought it was time for another dyno visit! This time with 100 octane

on this dyno:
335xi - Stock. 93 octane: 278whp / 287wtq
335xi - PROcede V3, dual cone intake, catless. 93 octane: 366whp / 370wtq
335xi - PROcede v3, dual cone intake, catless. ~99octane: 385whp / 393wtq


Long story short... AWD + this power = ridiculous..... next up: DV's and a FMIC.

I havent noticed mine running hot, but I have the factory oil cooler... I dont know about Jp's tho. Incredible numbers.

I haven't had any issues with oil temps. It runs at the same temp as it did stock But I will be getting an oil cooler when a certain company makes them!

What, no $2000 Dinan oil cooler for you? On my STi I pieced together my own oil cooler with Mocal parts for a little over $300, it works great.

Very impressive cars for sure! Have their been developments towards aftermarket turbos yet? Where's the weakest link in those engines?

first off i think this is an increadbly beastly car. I love it. I have always thought BMW made the best engines/cars in there class, they jsut drive so amazing. the 335 is jsut amazing, and with awd it must be even better (but haldex sucks!)
but, i have heard people with certain chips are blowing there turbos like no tomorrow. 17psi chips. Do u have the dinan chip which boosts 13psi (i think)

no one is blowing turbos "left and right". a beta map was spiking to 17psi for short periods... but it was a beta map... and didn't cause any kind of failures of any sort

i would never run anything dinan. i hate dinan... i'm running the procede v3

MMMMMMM, I miss my 325. BMW makes a good product engine wise, I wouldn't worry about motors or turbos blowing like our Audi's. Yes, as someone else said 100WHP off a chip, pipe and intake is insane.

My barber just got the 335xi white convertible goregoues with red interior he said the dinan chip is like 2 grand and hje would have to get a exhaust making it like a 4grand upgrade is this true? And what is a better more reasonable priced chip for him?

only time will tell the turbos are journal correct? i see s4 status(chipping overworking stock turbo and them going) in their future that engine runs hot and turbo placement doesnt help. its a great car and great #s

What type of AWD does bmw use?

someone already stated, the AWD is a Haldex.

As for the turbo life, it all depends on whether BMW engineered the turbos for boosting highers numbers thatn stock. That was the B5 S4's problem. They were designed to last a long time on 7psi, never intended for 15+.

But BMW probably did, as the tend to over-build their stock components.

Thats not what the 30+ pages on one of the e90 forums was saying, it was posted here a month or so back. people were getting blown turbos on jsut chips and exhaust. Many of them had the dentist drill sounds. A ton of them were in denial. Im jsut stating what other E90 owners were experienceing (i love BMW, more then my/all audi's, im not bashing just stating what i read/heard)

can you link me? there are some issues with the wastegate actuators on some cars (on both stock and modded cars... not mod related). there have only been a couple instances of blown turbos but no kind of evidence pointing towards mods causing the issue. I'm not saying this car is in any way invincible, but there really hasn't been many/any mod related blown turbos.

not all the models had oil coolers which led to problems
friend had both of his turbos replaced but i doubt it was due to his chip
all cars have problems these forums tend to sometimes make them seem bigger then they really are

Considering the 25-28% AWD drivetrain losses, that puts it at virtually 500 crank HP (on ~99 octane)...yikes.

I've got my eye on the 335xi's when they come down a bit.

Good on BMW for making this engine, i'm sure they are reaping the benefits as people hop on board...
