GTRS n Full boost with Stock Cat

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

Running Revo GTRS but only at 14psi atm. Will it be dangerous to run the turbo at full boost with stock cat? i only have cat-back exhaust (magnaflow) and will most def be changing it asap. but in the meantime, will it be dangerous to run it at max boost?

    Thanks,
    Starfriend

i wouldn't, i suspect that is why my K04 died and have also heard stories of others having the same issue.

Even on the stock K03, REVO stage 2 (injector file), it is susposed to be detuned (lower boost/timing settings) if you don't have a test-pipe and Full exhaust. My local dealer said that its to prevent premature turbo failure due to too much back pressure.
    That's on a K03...I def wouldn't suggest it on a GTRS.

I have the REVO BI file and an ER TP (AWE exhaust in shipping now ). Before the TP I could heat the stock cat up pretty good (I don't have logs), but the stock cat/turbo would visably be starting to glow red after a hard run. Now the turbo may show a little...but no where near as bad as before the Test pipe.

hmm, running my gtrs @ 0.7BAR (12psi ish i think) i only get eGT's of max 750 @ 3rd gear pulls.. only tried like two tho, to be sure at least i can drive the car meanwhile im locking for a local exhaust shop to get the cat and downpipe switched out. Thanks a lot all.

Ran mine on a stock cat and stock manifold up to 18 PSI for a while and it did just fine.
