A whole new list of issues

Thanks in advance for any help...

I just got my A4 back after about 2 weeks. I took it to the dealer because I thought the ECU was dead, however I ended up taking it to an APR dealer where they reflashed it and it was fine.

Anyway, I had a whole bunch of vacuum leaks from when I installed my APR TIP. Last night I spent a few hours making sure there were no lines unclamped. Everything is clamped down and although I haven't done the valve stem pressure tester yet I can't imagine how there could be a leak.

So I take the car out this morning and get on it a bit... It was making a screaming noise and hitting 20psi very very quick.

I got on it again and realized there was no diverter valve sound ... there was only, almost like a pop sound.

Just for reference I've got the yellow spring in the Forge 007 DV.

I decided that the DV wasn't working right so I installed the 2 pressure plates that came with it. One on the top of the spring and one on the bottom. Is that correct or no?

I also re-ran the tube from the DV to the FMIC outlet.. I used strong tube that didn't kink so there's no back pressure there.

So after I do that, I take it out for a drive and now I'm only hitting 14psi and losing boost quick and I'm still hearing the screaming which increases with boost (starts at about 7 psi)

It doesn't sound like a dentist drill at all.. it sounds like screaming. I've searched through YouTube videos and I can't find one that makes the same sound.

Also.. when I just rev the car it sounds perfect... you hear the turbo spool and the DV blow-off... but when I get on it I get low boost and a screaming sound with no DV sound other than maybe a flutter sometimes

Your DV should be connected to the IC piping inlet not the outlet on the passenger side. I have the yellow spring in my 007 and did not use the pressure plates. Screaming.. umm don't know what that is all about..

It is connected to the passenger side.. my FMIC piping has a little metal thing that the hose slides over and clamps down.

So that is the FMIC inlet from the turbo outlet... I don't think those plates are helping you.. if anything they are compressing the spring more and making it harder to open... the screaming sound???? Low boost now... umm not sure, hopefully some one else will chime in on that issue... GL

Thanks! I'm going to take the plates out... they may be the cause of the low boost however the screaming is unrelated.

Re: A whole new list of issues

The only gauge I have is the boost gauge and the sound starts at 7psi. My vacuum at idle is 18hg

Okay so I pressure tested and got no leaks. The only sound was the air inside the TIP. It didn't make the screaming noise.

I'm stumped... I only get the screaming noise at 7psi and above but my boost hits a wall at 14psi.

Can anyone confirm if the I should have put the plates in the diverter or not? I'd rather not disassemble all the hosing if I don't have to.

Okay so I'm thinking the turbo is gone

Look at the last 2 columns.. It's requesting 19.5psi and only getting 13.9

My favorite video to post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aiNAchgCxs

sorry man, your vids sound like your turbo is gone. Still, it is marginally possible that sound is made from a boost leak somewhere.

LOL the first time I heard the turbo-woo I cracked up for a few minutes. My favorite comment:

Thats no Turbo Lady....thats a turbo Blue Whale.

Anyway.. I've already spoken to EuroCode and when I get in tonight I'll be ordering a GTRS Elim with the Revo tune for CVT. That's given I don't find a leak somewhere.. but everything is clamped down so tight there just can't be a leak. I pressure tested and got no weird noises.
