Contact GermanDriver (aka Scott@Rival) as he was the previous importer. He's a stand up guy and will help you if he can. IIRC, the retail price was over $1K a year ago... Good luck w/ you quest as it was always a rare piece.

    Re: sportec front...

second on the rep statement. There are Otty, Kerscher, ABT reps as far as I know. Someone should make a Sportec one. Especially now since they aren't being made anymore.

They could call it Sportece or Sportek or Sportic or Sportce. Just saying.

Do people not like fiberglass because it will be hard to repair? In that case, don't hit anything.

If not, what's the reason then? Does fiberglass age badly or look cheap or something?

This is why people don't like fiberglass bumpers.

Ahhh I got it.That sucks. Common sense says that thing should be made of some other material for that price then, yes? Too bad, because his car looked sweet with that set up.

I was reading a thread about a guy who wanted to get a new front lower because his fiberglass one was cracked and a couple peeps chimed in that 'fiberglass is easy to fix and that they were interested in purchasing the damaged one'. Now, i dont know if people are actually doing real fiberglass repairs or just bondoing and sanding to 'fix' the crack. I am interested in why a lot of people seem down on fiberglass as well. I understand cheap bumpers have fitment issues but does that have to do with the mold they were cast in? Does fiberglass even use molds? I believe all the early corvettes were made of fiberglass which means its been used in the automotive industry since 1950? which means nothing i suppose other than perhaps they have come a long way in the art of fiberglass? Jesus, i just confused even myself...

It just looks like it cracks fairly easily? I don't know but that's what it looked like from the pics. Maybe it's hard ti repair like yousaid. I don't know ish about materials like that. I know that fiberglass isn't flexible. But that's about all I know about it. But really, shouldn't the Sportec front be more durable for that price?

    Re: sportec front...

Not available and I had the last one from Rival.

Ended up selling it as my bodyshop guy didn't want to put it on the wagon due to it being fiberglass.

I did look into seeing if I could 'reproduce' it in poly but the cost of the mold was just more than my bank account could allow for.

    Re: sportec front...

I'd love one...but the Canadian winter would just beat the ish out of a fiberglass piece..

you'd think a company like sportec would be using the best material for their stuff...specially with the kind of reputation they have and not to mention the price they charge for their stuff...

Not hating on them or anything I just wish they weren't made out of some cheap fiberglass material.

I still want that front facia though, it's the best looking bumper in the market for B6 A4s IMO.. it's simple yet gives you that aggresive look.

Bottom line, fiberglas is easy to work on, easy to repair, but brittle, tough to line up with body lines without work, and not very durable... People prefer poly because it's flexable, and is a better material for the street.

I'll dig up a pic of a fella who took a fiberglas bumper for a 2g dsm, hacked it in two places and "molded" it to the upper of portion of his hacked 97 escort bumper...wow...fail...

I F'ing love that sportec kit by the way!!

LOL I was told that I purchased the last one full kit from Rival in 2006. Anyways, I have daily driven on it and haven't had an issue at all with the fiberglass. I also didn't mold the top to the bottom, and its also believed to be how the top was mounted to the bottom.

I called a local Sportec dealer recently, and the front grille replacement is currently $1063. I can't imagine how much the bumper would be right now if they still had it in stock.

Then why the f--k would Sportec not make their kit out of something else? Seems pretty silly to make such a nice kit then make it out of the least durable material out there.

    Re: sportec front...

^^ well I guess sportec figured that if their kit was as expensive as it is, not too many young people would put out for it and also they cater to "real" car enthusiast who would be responsible enough to take care of this beautiful piece of art work hahaha..

But what they failed to see was that young people nowadays would do anything to get their hands on anything that looks as good as this kit but they can careless they're making $$$$$$!

and all it really takes is good care and pretty decent driving and you'll be able to keep it without cracks and what not...
