Help me pick a fitment for my CCWs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
ill be ordering CCW classics as soon as i sell my bike..

    that being said

i want some minor poke.. nothing crazy.. and some decent lips(dont have to be 3 inch lips) but u get the idea.

    im thinking

    18x9 all around

ET30 in the rear and ET34 in the front..

i dont know how this will fit as i may need a spacer so i may just have to bump it down to ET32 rear and ET36 front.

EDIT.. oh yea i have the ECS tuning porsche 993 BBK

anyone have experience with a similar fitment?

you better have exact measurements for those brakes. ccws wont clear a bbk very easily. they will make spacers for you. great wheels, great service. i hope thewy clear those brakes. keep us posted

Black car is Pat-SoCal. Long time AW poster. That car is now fully caged with OEM/SDR widebody with areo kit. Full-on race car. I believe when he was running his CCW's he also had some fender pulling done to get them to fit.

Re: Help me pick a fitment for my CCWs

what tires size did you want to run?? if you do a 225 id do... 18x9 27et front and 23et rear... bc when i had my lm reps i ran a 10mm spacer in front on a 18x8.5 35et which made it a 25et, but on a 8.5. it was flush... so 9 with a 27 et would be perfect id say and just run a few lower et in the rear. you can allways roll or pull a little more, id hate to order expensive ass wheels and not be perfect lol. a few mm isnt too big of a difference.

Re: Help me pick a fitment for my CCWs

ccw's are made to order. when you place your order they have all the measurements you would need in the computor. i was on the phone for quite a while getting mine done. the fronts have a bit too much poke [they send spacers, i just need to get a few mm's taken off the front] the rears i spaced out 10mm. the rears are perfect now. the fronts rub under hard bumps. they had to spaced like they are because i was planning on going with a bbk. John [ the owner of ccw] said these wheels are hard to get bbk's under.

Hmm... i dont wanna hve to mod too much on the car to get them to fit.. id rather play around with like a 5mm spacer to put it at the above specs ^ in case its a little too much work to get them to fit.

    that being said..

    18x9 32et front

    18x9 27et rear?

thaty way the front will leave me room for a spacer to get the fitment i want.. although like you said its only a few mm.

the Rep from CCW recommended et23 in the rear and et38 in the front.

id like to have a little more than that in the frno though.

This is correct info. I now own those CCW wheels and they are 17x9x5. I tried everything I could to fit them on my S4 daily driver with rolled and pulled front fenders and they were still too wide. Granted it was with 255 tires but you can't* fit those wheels with a decent tire without major fender work. I run the wheels with a 15mm spacer now with 275 track tires on my OEM widebody A4 track car. They fir the A4 perfectly!!!

My suggestion would be to go no wider then 8.5 in the front esp with those brakes that you have. Fitment will be very hard with your setup and desired width.

the only reason your having issues fitting is the 255 tires.

really i dont see it being an issue with 225s.

whats the offset on your wheels?

Re: Help me pick a fitment for my CCWs

Fist of all you don't run a 225 tire on a 9 inch wheel...what's the point of going that wide of a rim with a skinny bike tire. It's true that Pat Lindsey's CCW's were 17x9.5. I have the same wheel but in size 17x9 (for sale in the classifieds actually). I run 245 series tires and without a doubt can fit a 255 on the car without fender pulling. If you want 17X9 that are designed to clear a Stoptech BBK PM me and I'll give you my full name. All CCW will do is search my name, get the specs and build you the rim. You have to run spacers without question for the front on a BBK and they build a spacer to accomodate that.

i dont track the car so im looking for mostly looks with the ccws... the s4 isnt made for turning. and a 9 inch wide wheel is 228mm which is just as big as a 225.. so its not a skinny bike tire as you would say.. it actually fits perfect as a 225.

225's are going to look goofy on a 9in wide wheel. Your wheel will poke but your tire is going to be stretched pretty hard.

Just for fitment reasons heres a 225 on an 18 in wheel.

Just my opinion but... You need 245/45/18's, or 245/40/18's, depending on how much sidewall you want. The Less sidewall you have though, the worse the car will ride. Plus, for the price difference between the 225's to 245's... it's well worth it for more contact patch of rubber on the pavement. It's only a couple dollars a tire difference. If you lived closer, I could get you the major hook-up on tires, but since you don't... Try www.tirerack.com or www.discounttiredirect.com They have pretty reasonable prices.

P.S. 245's are not considered wide either. I had 265/35/18's on an 18X9, and 315/35/18's on a 18X10 wheel... Now that's wide. That was on my Cobra though... Different class of car. Don't try it at home with an Audi lol

This info is just going to cause problems. The sizes you mention are taller than stock which creates real fitment problems especially in the rear. The suspension upright curves up and over the top of the tire. I test fitted a well worn 275/40-17 and it would stick out nearly an inch more in the rear than in front because of the suspension upright. If the stock diameter is kept then inner upright clearance is fine and your only issues become outside clearance, spacing, and the changes in scrub radius. 225/40-18 is the correct diameter which means a 245/35-18 and 255/35-18 are both very close.

This is the driver side rear with a 17x8 et35 and my 245/40-17 snow tires. Clearance is minimal at best and these don't even run wide for their size. To go even 1/4" taller would require spacing out about 1/2".

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the 315/35's were on my Cobra, not my Audi!! I was just saying that 315's were wide, not 225's Edited my post to avoid confusion! I just don't like the "tires are too narrow for the wheels" look. I personally will be going with 245/35 /18's on my car

Re: Help me pick a fitment for my CCWs

    im thinking with my

18x9 et 32 in the front
18x9 et 27 in the rear

    and a 235/40/18 i shouldnt have issues.

and the tire wont have a noticeable stretch.

i might use a 5mm spacer if i need be to get the fitment i want.

The 275/40-17 is the Cobra's front tire. It runs a 335/35-17 in the rear. Superformance mkiii, RDI aluminum 427 small block, Tremec TKO 5MT, wilwoods, quaife, etc..

I like the fatties too. That 245/40-17 shown above is one of my snow tires.
