Question does my a4 have a mind of its own??!!

    hey guys..

is it unusual for your sunroof to open and close by itself while you drive? I've noticed that many times it opens up....then a couple of seconds later it closes...has this happened to anyone? It happens frequently now that i think about it.

another question too...sometimes my passenger side window goes a little crazy, ill put up the window...and it will go back down halfway...then ill put it back up...and it will go back down half way or a quarter...

    Thanks!

ive never had either of these problems. im pretty sure thats not supposed to be happening unprovoked so to me it sounds like an electrical problem. are you still under warranty?

The sunroof is a switch problem. I assume the fix is similar to this:

i read another thread about this exact same issue. I don't remember how it was resolved or what the actual problem was, but i'd suggest using the search feature to look through old threads and see if you can find it.

Numer24- Unfortunately I think my car is out of warranty....i bought the car back in February with 36k miles and was told the warranty was going to expire soon...the car now has 46k miles.

Teratorn- Thanks for the audiworld link, ill have to try this procedure...hopefully it works

SeatownB6- Thanks! Normally i use the search button for my questions...except this time...but that thread definitely describes on whats going on with my car.

Does anyone know how much it would be to replace the window switch?

I had the same problem with my sunroof. The DIY someone posted above will fix the problem you do need a really small wrench i believe a t-6. The fix seemed to work great for about two months but now it's starting to act up again it's kind of on the same cycle as changing the oil :-)

The fix is for a B5, no? Does that fix apply to a B6 as well?

Re: does my a4 have a mind of its own??!!

really...i thought the warranty was only 4 years...so i should still be under warranty then..I haven't hit 50k yet...I'm the second owner of the car, but the audi was purchased at an independent dealer...would the warranty still work for me?

so the window switch and sunroof switch can be replaced under warranty hopefully?

Do yourself a favor and go to Sears or something like that for the T-9 torx (unless you already have one obviously). I went into car parts stores to come up empty. Most sets seem to stop at T-10.
