In middle of fuel pump change, need help.

Ok I've been working on changing my fuel pump.

It's been all taken apart for about a week waiting on a part.

I got it out and putting the new one in.

Only problem is under the white plastic fuel pump cap, that part attached to the fuel pump all the wires plug into, there is a wire that attaches on the underside where the gas is.

    It's just 2 wires a black and a green.

The problem is I don't know which way it goes back on.

It can plug on either way and it's been off so long I can't remember.

Can anyone help me with this please.

In he Bentley manual it didn't specify, it's just says "remove" and "replace".

Doesn't say which way. I don't want to put it on backwards and have to take the entire thing apart again.

Here's pics if anyone has done it before and can help.

Here's the underside where the wire clip connects.

Here's said wire a black and a green.

And the clip can go on either way.

Re: In middle of fuel pump change, need help.

i have done this on my car.

on the new pump there is a positve and a negetive connection. the positive is bigger.

Then look at the two wires in the tank, I belive there yellow and black. but the color doesn't matter all you need to do is hook up the bigger gage wire to the positive and the smaller gage wire to the negative.

then the big fuel line you are holdong should be replace with high pressure rubber fuel line with two screw clamps.

if you have any other questions you can PM me.

    Thanks I got it running.

I just took a shot, figured it was 50/50.

I think that's just for the gas gauge anyway so it's not like the car wouldn't run and you would probably notice it before you turned the engine over anyway, just put the electric on.
