Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello all.. let start with sorry for the spelling !!!just made a name for myself!! But on her ebecuase I just picled up a santorian and did a few things to her! chip, catback you know the basics...anyway..car does not even hit 6 pounds in stock mode and only hits about 16 when its chipped..now I know those are numbers that are not bad but...there is more...the other day I was just about completely warm the oil temp looked good and obv. engine temp was good so I gave her alittle in second and wound it out alittle up to like 5 grand and then shifted into third and laid into it and the car freaked out hitting only about 12 pounds...if anyone thinks they know more then I please chime in... Do you all think I should get the car pressure tested?? Please keep in mind the car only has 64000 thousand miles and has only been chipped for about 200 miles! I have no dentist drill sound and the car runs mint..except fo the boost issues. The car has been in my bros hands for some time now he picked it up with about 60000 on it and has been trying to figure out why it wont run smooth...LMK what I should do..do I take it to to the stealership and have them break it..do I take to it to local performance shop APTUNING.com( people who told me that they could chip the new TSI vw engine even though there is no software out for it yet)( MORONS ) and have them break it what do I do..I know how we all are..the S4 is way to perfect to bing it somewhere!!

pressure test/VAG COM......sounds like you could have a small boost leak, check ur Throttle body boot....very notorious for tearing. Make sure you take the whole thing off and check for tears.

Also the only mods you named were Chip, and catback. Did you not upgrade diverter valve? also you need to make sure you upgrade the f-hose and TBB.

welcome, nice to see you have the same color money pit as I.

BTW, its spelled "Santorin Blue", not "Santorian Blue". Little things like that make me think you didn't do much research before you bought the car.

Does this mean I have the F-hose...I was under the impression that only certain S's had the f-hose or do they all...???

    Re: 00 Santorian not right

i think they got rid of the f-hose on the 2001.5 s4...so if you have a 2000-2001, i believe u do have the f-hose. Correct me if I'm wrong, but auto's don't have the f-hose also.

And for the OP...maybe ur spark plugs r bad and ur misfiring. They might need to be swapped out for new ones or regapped.

Start small, Set aside a day and check to make sure all your pressure and vacuum hoses are good. If you do not know the history of your basic maint. items then plan on just replacing them. Filters, plugs, etc. While inspecting your tb boot, test the functionality of your dv's and service them if they are servicable. These cars are fine if you take a little extra time with them.

I run a three prong bosch, I think it is OE.
    Buy them here

No special tools needed. If you have a base set you should be fine.
10mm on a stick is handy also an extendy magnet is good

    Re: 00 Santorian not right

First, if you are chipped, you should be running aftermarket Diverter Valves (DVs) and an upgrade Throttle Body Boot (TBB). I would suggest 710N's for DVs, and are cheap to get as they come stock on the Audi TT. I would suggest a samco TBB as well. After replacing those, if your problems haven't gone away, then pressure test to see if / where the boost leak is. Lastly, if you have access to a Vag Com, log block 115 (Boost) and report back.

    Good luck!

This is a learning process, make sure you read and search through old threads to gain knowledge. this car is a maintenace whore but if you take care of the car she'll take car of you.

It sure will. F-hose is one of the many boost hoses. ECS sells it. Also search classifieds i'm sure i've seen a couple from people going to the brass f-hose from VAST.

    Re: 00 Santorian not right

car has aftermarket dv's and brand new factory spark plugs
the vacuum at idle is pretty good around 19 to 20
could a leak this small be causing this much intermittent boost.
ohh and by the way this is my car and cole trickle is my brother
anymore insight would be awesome i want to get this car running right...
    thanks

could it be the n75 valve???

Pressure test / Log block 115. Without that info, it's hard to tell if it's the N75.

I doubt its the nj75, you could try getting a manual boost controller and throwing that in it's place to see. What software are you running?
