added too much oil? am i at risk?

added only 4Q of oil at my last oil change just to be safe, but dipstick level is past the shade area, right about at the the 90deg bend. maybe the old oil didn't fully drain out?
put 2K miles on the car since then. runs fine, but have i done any serious long term (cat) damage? should i drain/pump some oil out? what is the best way to do this?
    thanks.

Didn't some guy just post about using 7Quarts with his last change? I'm kind of confused, how much should people be putting in?

You are correct and I am a tard. Thanks for clearing that up. I just got nervous because when I had the oil on my old car changed I read like 3 different amounts in 3 different places, and they ended up overfilling it.

having to much oil in the crankcase is not good. it will cause uneeded stress on the oil pump and o-rings. So when you increase the oil level, the bearings are submerged in oil. When the bearings swirl it works like an egg beater and it causes the oil to foam which leads to vicosity breakdown.
