Well, it is finally coming together. Handling mods complete. Aesthetics mostly complete. Now I can turn to getting a little more power and then I'll be satisfied until it's time to get a new car!
So I posted a few pics when the wheels first went on and I was still quite sick. I'm better now and have done some modding since the last time you saw it...
/\ Forge DV with a line out for future boost gauge... Not much to say here but the car feels more responsive on boost and doesn't give a sickly hair drier type wheeze anymore. My guess is the stocker was certainly on it's way out!
Nice wide stance revisited:
Pic whore time! I'm embarrassed at how dirty the car is but it is lowered and after much spirited driving and a little bit of time, seems to have mostly settled.
Gap at the rear:
Gap at the front: (a bit more to keep those 245/35/19 PS2s rub free!)
Begging for AWE's quad tip exhaust!
245s are a beautiful thing:
With an evil stepbrother:
Noticed that these pics are definitely on the small side, I resized them to make uploading quick and easy and viewing painless for all users. I'm no photographer but some of those pics look "big worthy" so if ya'll want to see any bigger, just say so! And a full review of the PSS9s will come after a full front/rear alignment and a bit more time driving on them. I have them set to 5 all the way around, and these are the S4 version with stiffer valving and higher spring rates. At this setting it feels noticably firmer, more precise, and has much more control over undulations and off-camber turns. The result of this well-controlled ride is what some might consider a bit rough. Not quite stock 993 Carrera but close. Certainly has better manners driving around town in terms of comfort. I am looking forward to experimenting more with all of the settings.
As luck would have it, I had an appointment out where some of my favorite roads are about an hour after I picked up the car! Only pushed it about seven or eight tenths to make sure I wasn't going to rub and because it was 103 degrees, the car certainly wasn't quite its normal self. But the speed of many corners at 8/10ths easily approached (or surpassed) the last time I drove this road which was pre-wheels/tires/coilovers.
I already had the Hotchkis H-Sport RS4 bars installed and now the suspension and sways really compliment each other. Last thing to do in the brake/suspension department is drilled Adam's Rotors in S4 front sizing with new pads and stainless steel brake lines. We'll see what else comes later...
And of course, not enough good things to be said about the PS2s. Had them before on different cars, have them now, and will have them again in the future. Grip, quiet, nice.
Quick recap of my mods so far:
Tint (don't really consider this a mod but many do)
Revo 93 flash
Forge DV
Volk CE28N 19x8.5
Michelin Pilot Sport2 245/35/19
S4 spec Bilstein PSS9s
Plus S4/S-Line front bumper and RS4 grill and filler plate and a few other minor cosmetic mods.
Yes I'm working on xenons and clear corners.
And centercaps!!!
That list looks short, but boy does it add up quickly!
