Question Brand new to Audi, having some trouble w/mods, please help! (used search)

    Hey guys,

Just bought an 04 A4 1.8T with about 54000 miles. I love the car, ever since I bought it I have been digging through this forum for the best mods and just general advice. Best forum ever, anyway here is my problem:

After reading and researching, I decided to go with a REVO chip. Took it to the authorized dealer, they flashed it, out in 20 minutes. Fastest $540 bucks I've ever spent, ouch. Anyway, noticed the difference just backing out, the torque difference was phenomenal. I loved it. Later on that night, car started vibrating, sudden loss in power, I knew instantly I had burned a coilpack or 2. My wiper motor also stopped working? Strange I know. I took it back to the mechanic I bought it from, turns out he hadn't given the car a tune up when he sold it to me.

My question is will the car be alright with (4) new coilpacks and a good tune up in general? Or are there specific ignition coils I should buy? I also just ordered a 710N DV so I don't take any more chances with my engine. Anything else I should change to accommodate for the added power/torque? Thanks again for all your help.

Thanks for the input guys, another quick question.

Do I have to drive a bit slow for a certain amount of miles with the new chip before beginning to drive aggressively? Does it need time to adjust?

stock injectors are perfect for just a stage 1 flash.

i would upgrade the snub mount as well. (you'll know why when you see the stock one) lol

Just drive bro. Btw did you happen to come by the meet in schiller woods last weekend? If not go to the midwest section and check it out and any upcoming meets.

    UPDATE

So my mechanic gave me a tune up, 4 new coilpacks, spark plugs, the whole nine yards. The car felt completely different, simply amazing. Later that night I was trying to pass someone on the highway, my car studdered around 3500-4000 rpms and the CEL flashed for 10 seconds then went away. Kept driving at low rpms, and it was ok, same thing happened when revved around 3500 rpms. Does this have something to do with the boost? Taking it back to the mechanic today, I got a 710N DV in today and it is getting installed, also on the way, an Apikol Snub and a Forge TIP, will any that help?

Should I ask him to gap from plugs to .028 instead of .032? Thanks

Why are your plugs gapped at 0.028"? When I was bone stock I gapped my copper plugs at 0.032". 0.028" sounds kind of small to me.

I would also recommend investing (or finding someone local with one) in a Vag-Com. Until you know what the DTC is stored in memory for your CEL we can not provide further [accurate] guidance as to why you're throwing a CEL at 3500rpm.

How do your vacuum lines look? The OEM cloth-covered vacuum lines get very brittle over time due to the heat of the engine bay. It is recommended to replace them with 100% silicon lines that behave better with the heat. I would do this sometime between now and 100k.

that sounds like your coil packs went again..wierd.

You should get a boost gauge if you don't have one. Also test for any boost leaks:

maybe he just replaced the spark plugs and not the actual coilpacks.

Ran a VAG, cylinder 2 misfire. Thought it was the ICM but it turned out to be a f**kin defective coilpack. Sorry to bother everyone again.

    Kept the plugs at .032
