Time for another Cruise?

Well i was jsut thinking about how great of a time i had on the last crusie (even though eveyone got broken up and it wasent much of a crusie) And though maby its time to start getting another one in the works. Anyone agree with this. I have a pole started to see if there is intrest like the last one. This time i hope we can achieve a few things:

1. More organization - Last time 1 person knew where we were going, no one had phone numbers, no maps, not even a general concensess of where we were gooing and the place we were parking.
2. Better Planned route - last time a tone of groups got broken up and the crusie was everything except a proper crusie beucase of lights and what not
3. What we need- printed maps to hand out to every car attending of route, stops and what not. A plan for when the group gets cut off by lights and what not. Phone numbers of the leaders incase soemone gets seriously lost (maps will prevent this) walkie talkies so cars can comunicate from front to back of pack (incase a light cuts things off ahead group can pull over and wait for left behind comrads.


Well i felt the last crusie was great, meet some great people, had fun and was able to shoot the shit and talk about cars + got some great pics in and a bit of fun driving. I think if we can organize another cruise it would be even better then the last one beucase we can learn from out mistakes.

the pole is put up jsut to see the inital intrest and then if enough people want to come out again (since people couldent comeout last time beucase their cars wernt ready) then we should organize one for mid ish augaust.

i'm down. I "heard" this park has some nice driving roads and good photo places. I've never been before, apparently some MKV people meet @ yorkdale and head to the park from there and they don't get hassle from mall security. *wink wink*

Walkie talkies to communicate, and phone numbers so its easy to get in touch if you get lost
Planned stops along the way with parking to bring the group back together
Make it a cruise, not a race. Keep to normal flow so people are interested and keen to come back.

Lots of good opportunities coming up, maybe one should be planned as a final event of the year as a Fall Colours drive, get some really nice photos with the trees changing.

Ding ding ding.

Maps are a must. Organizer(s) need to get maps printed then passed out to people at the initial meetup location. Maps should not be distributed online on a public forum for obvious reasons. FRS radios are also a must. Just make sure you got somebody in the middle with an FRS radio as the group tends to get spread out quite a bit as the ones with the heavier foot will get a lot farther ahead than the rest of the group, yes, ideal to keep to a reasonable speed to keep folks together. Front leader needs to stop once in a while for the entire group to collect back up together. Put down a final meet location if folks wants to do dinner afterward.

Fall colours - don't even bother I say unless you guys do a cruise on the weeday. Way too much traffic on the weekend, just asking for trouble. Forks - stay away, too much traffic also to the point it's worse than rush hour traffic on the 401!

i always cruise naked because i refuse to turn on the AC and make my car EVEN SLOWER.

I'm totally down for a cruise....

Albion Hills is like 10 minutes from me....its a nice place to take pictures....but it kinda shits the bed for driving.

its deffinately nice in the fall; went there last november for a drive and whatnot...

MORE ORGANIZATION...we got a winner. But it sounds like such a hassle. I love the ideas of maps but I dread the idea of anyone having to organize it and print out 30+ maps and use up their ink.

SOLUTION. Whoever organizes it has to:
1) Know exactly where they wanna go
2) Know exactly the best/scenic/fun to drive/grandma and grandpa free -(YOU CAN'T PARK THERE!!!) We all know what I'm talking about!- area.
3) LEAD!!!!!
4) Know how to lead
5) post up the map (so everyone can print out THEIR OWN!) No whining " oh we should've taken this route instead of that one" because the whiner shoud've then organized it him or herself.

Bottom line, maps solve a lot, all we need is a strict speed limit, because after all its a cruise, not a race. Keep it high, but slow enough that people can catch up without losing their cars for a week.

Just my 2 cents.

No issue with doing a fall colours tour as long as you don't go to the main touristy spot, Ontario has tonnes of hidden gems and no reason to get stuck with the crowds. Most of it would depend on distance away from Toronto that the group is willing to go.

My dad did a tour with the Saab club up and around the Collingwood area last year and had a solid turnout with great roads and little places to stop.

we'll have a cruise in august and another one in September/October before the winter comes in.

Ok well sounds like lots of intrest. I like the idea of having a cruise now in Aug, and then another one in late sept early oct to kinda wrap up the 08 summer season and have one large end of season meet (as long as its not too long in Oct beucase then it will be too cold for us to get out of the cars) but we will all boost hard! I will make up another thread since the intrest was good here for possible dates. I dont mind organizeing this this time (as long as i can get some help) but i can for shure print off the maps here at work and bring them the day of the crusie (online is bad beucase we dont want pigs to know where we are going ) So i will start a new thread with a new pole with a veriaty of diffrent dates
