    help on tires...C5 A6 2.7t w/RS6 Reps.

    I recently got a set of used RS6 rep. 5 Spokes, 18 inch.
    Wheels rubs on calipers, ok, I need spacers, it wasn't much, so I just ordered 3mm spacers front and back, with bolts in a set.
    but when I put 225 40 18, the tires were too narrow, the wheel would hit the ground when I put it in floors.
    so I put 255 35 18 for test fit, now it's too wide for the car, it sticks out over the fenders, and it seems smaller in diameterwise...
    So I'm thinking about going for 235 40 18...do you guys this would be good size?
    I think it wouldn't rub on fender, with 3mm spacers, hopefully it clears calipers, but I think they still gonna be a little narrow for the wheel...
    What do you guys think?
    Are those good wheels put on C5 A6 2.7T?
    They look good on it, but it's PITA dealing with tire size and spacers...
    Can someone help me out???

    I run 235/40/18 on 9in wide wheels; works out just fine. I ran them 8in wide wheels as well. How wide are your wheels? How did the wheel hit the ground with 225's?

    I believe they are 8inch...when I place them on floors side ways...the wheels are on contact with ground and tires are in the air. tires are narrower than wheels...so basically no protection on wheels from the tires...

    I'm about to run 235/18/40 on 18x8 wheels. So I'm thinking you could even go wider on that rim. Other people who run wider wheels should chime in about offsets and fitment soon.

    Oh, I get it. Yeah - 235/40 does not protect the rim on a 9in wheel, but DID on my 8in wheels - I think it could be brand dependent as well.

    235 does protect rims on 8inch wide? 225 definitely was way too narrow...255 looked good, but too wide for fender clearance-wise...what I have on right now is nankang rs-ii while waiting for spacers, does anyone have these tires???
    and isn't 9-inch too wide for A6???

    tires sizes: eg, 235/40/18
    "235" = width (in mm) -- divide by 25.4 = inches (9.25", in this case)

    "aspect" is % (40, in this case) = sidewall height divided by width (so, 3.7" is sidewall "height", in this case);

    OD = rim + 2 x Sidewall = (18+7.4) = 25.4 (a coincidence with prior use of 25.4)

    Re: help on tires...C5 A6 2.7t w/RS6 Reps.

    235/40/18 is very popular and should pose no problems.

    I am actively contemplating going there myself. You see, as a result of spending too much time on forum, being exposed to the Audi mod-virus repeatedly I now seem to have contracted a mild version of it. Apparently it can become an especially virulent disease. It is progressive, as well. It was only a few months ago that I was content with 17s -- favored them, in fact. Now, spoiler, blades, grille are in hand or en route, I'm checking out rims, and find myself hoping my stock shocks show signs they require replacement (which in turn will surely require the Pro-kit).

    Anyway, the the remaining question (I don't have answer for) has to do with offsets.

    I don't understand your: " when I put 225 40 18, the tires were too narrow, the wheel would hit the ground when I put it in floors."
