I did wire the white blue amp turn on as well but im pretty sure my amp is shot. for now how can i power my rears with the D3's internal amp?
I can take some pictures if thats easier. I hate wiring shit
You can power your rears with the D3's internal amp, you just have to know what you are doing. Unfortunately, the stock speakers also push the subwoofer so unless you want a muffled popping sound I would disconnect it, plus you should disconnect it to bring it down to the right OHMs anyways. Once you have done this you have to find out which colors are you rears. On the amp in the trunks sidewall, take down the carpet, and pull out the harness (leave it out after all this, too or you'll def blow it). All the wires going in and out of the harness should be twisted and color coded. When I say Color1/Color2 the first "color1" is the solid color and the "color2" is the stripe color..
Ok, once you pulled the harness out of the amp and you get enough slack to pull it out into view, now you can start finding your wires.. You can either start by getting a diagram from the forums that hopefully tells you the wire colors or if you have your stock radio look on the underside of the back of the housing and it should say the colors and the pins on its harness on a white sticker, match these up with what you see in this rear amp harness, they will be there. I usually just pop the speakers, this is easiest so don't be afraid.. Take a 9v battery and with a razer slice a little bit into your two wires, say green/brown, slice into each of the wires a lil bit just to get a contact to metal.. Touch each end of the razer to the terminals on a 9v batt and you will hear a speaker pop.. Do this cycling through your different colors until you find the rears. This way is always the best cause keep in mind if Audi didn't have green/brown wire, they won't stop a production line, they'll just use pink/white, which is the next on the rack. So to me its always better to just test the lines, like I said you won't do damage. Now, keep in mind if you goto a set of wires and don't hear a pop come from any of the speakers then this means your popping the signal input to the amp, you want the output wires, cause these go directly to the speakers and most likely will be the same colors just the output. Think of the amp as in-line to the speakers. An RCA cable is simply just a wire shielded inside another wire.. Audi's version of an RCA would look more like 2 separate wires but effectively doing the same thing, running the ground and pos, like an RCA. Now, that you have found your speakers, you have to run the wires up to the front to get to the back of the head unit.. Well, another simple trick is to just jump the same wire colors and bypass that harness.. Like I said, it is essentially in-line. So, take your wire colors and jump it to the other set of wires that probably match the same colors and that also run up to the head unit.. This will make it so you don't even have to run the wires, just bypass the amp in the rear.
Now, keep this also in mind.. The tweeters in the Audi system are extremely temperamental and actually run at a very high Ohms, so try not to pop just the tweets.. Usually you can tell the tweets by the really thin wires, stick to the heavier 12-14 ga wire.
Because Audi is sharing its wires and using it like an RCA system but actually splitting it to two separate wires, they will have a common ground, which is usually the brown solid wires with whatever color stripe.. 9 times out of 10 you can see the common ground pin by seeing all the brown wires coming from there respective twists and going into 1 pin location, or maybe its split between front and rear, so maybe 2 pin locations on the harness.
I know its a lot to read, but it should help you.
