    question for all bat guys. ie 3076/ 3071 turbo users

    when i blew my gt 28rs years ago i went with a gt3076 wg from atp. it uses a v-band adapter. now the adapter is leaking [ prob warped] the problem is, i want to go with a new exhaust side [ non internal gate] it seems atp uses a custom exhaust side and a different trim wheel for the internaly gated turbos[ the wg is a totaly different turbo than the standard 3076]. i had the internal gate removed, i tapped the wg hole and pluged it. now i run an external tial 38 mm wg. my problem is i need a new exhaust housing with a v-band built into the housing and i cant find one. what have any of you done to run an external gate after you got the internally gate turbo. sorry for the ramble, i still need to wake up. i need to get this ordered asap as my current setup has a wicked exhaust leak

    atp won't sell you the housing? Do you have a t3 turbine housing?

    Remove the vac source from the internal gate, and install or weld the external gate into the exhaust manifold. (You have already done this)

    Otherwise buy a new turbo, mani setup.........

    Does the car run any better after switching to the external gate?

    It only comes in a T25 flange housing.

    The "GT3076R-WG" packs the 500HP capable, quick spooling 52 trim 76mm compressor found in the popular GT3037 with the high flowing 90 trim turbine wheel found in the bigger GT3071R-WG, making it the highest flowing turbo available in the internal wastegated configuration. Ideal higher power upgrade for GT28RS/GT2871R/GT3071R-WG setups looking for a lot more power. Comes with T25 style inlet flange.
    He could try to see if anyone makes a T25 5bolt back plate that blocks off the WG or just weld the WG closed and then weld on a Vband flange to the back plate. ATP has a T3 5bolt back plate but not sure if it is the same for a T25 housing.

    Another way to go is to just try buying a new T25 turbine housing since thats all it is using or just have someone weld the Vband adapter you have now right to the housing so it wont leak anymore.

    Welding cast iron is hit or miss. Cast Iron likes to crack like high-temp nickel based alloys. It can be done, just with great finesse.

    Good choice on the spa mani. Does that mean you'll have to do some work to the downpipe too? I'd rather modify a downpipe than a turbine housing.

    I AM IN IDIOT .............i just got off the phone with atp. i need to check my facts first. my turbo is a t25 flange, the spa mani is a t3 flange. so now i am having a new exhaust housing made. t3 flange, deleating the internal gate all together, 3" v-band out. im gonna have a crazy turbo. they said the t3 will flow so much better. im stepping up to a .82 ar also. looking for more top end punch. sorry for all the panic. and yes i will be getting a new custom down pipe made.

    nope the 28 was on the atp mani. ill post pics when i get my parts on. i had 550's running atp's mica bs. made 298 whp on the stock motor with the 28rs. shooting for around 350 with the 2.o and the 3076 on pump. pics when done of course.

    It depends on the dyno but 350 should be cake. Even 375+ doesn't look too hard.

    S4's are in the same category.. well, it's easy to hit 400 wheel on the 2.7t. it's just a bitch maintaining them.

    Don was probably referring to something like Evo's where you can hit ~400whp and 11's with just ~$2000 in mods. or less on the RS version

    That's the reason I went with an A4 over an S4 from the get go.

    Yes I was referring to Evos, they would probably hit 500 with a 3076.
