Do The NEW Classifieds Suck Or Is It Just Me?

The new classifieds suck! I just tried to post my wheels up for sale, spent 15min typing out what I wanted the ad to say, then had to find all the pics on my computer to upload again (doesnt let you use your own hosted pics???). Submitted the thread, says my pictures are too big and takes me back to the main classifieds section, losing all the text I had just spent the time typing ... WTF!

Anyone else have problems? Good luck selling shit with this new format ...

I don't like how when I try to adjust how many ads are shown on my screen for viewing/searching. I go from the past 7 days to 'all' and it gives me 'all' ads period.

Haven't posted up a FS ad yet but I'm noticing they are full of WTB ads (annoying).

I didn't post pics with my add... but I would say it is a little bit on the difficult side... on the other hand I think once all the bugs are worked out the format is easy to view all needed details and what platform parts are for... I also can never put pics in the gallery here becuase it always says they are too big... have to post in facebook which doesn't care and just resizes for me..

Definitely suck. I go to the Classifieds much less often now - which sucks because I used to browse them several times per day. Now it's once every few days, if that.

I know it would be nice if it let you know the pics are too big or resize them, not just throw your ad out

They still have a few bugs to work out but I like the new setup better. It's a little extra work but I copy my ad before submitting it. You can still use photobucket for your pictures if you post them in the description section. You can also submit your ad without pics and add them later.

I like the fact that you can leave feedback directly on someones profile now.

This is what the Classifieds Bug Report & Feedback Thread is for! I don't understand why people can't use the forums and existing threads as they are intended, instead of create a whole new bitch thread somewhere else. So unhelpful. We need the proper feedback to make these new features better!

OK, calming down.

So anyway, we are aware of the image uploading issues, and are looking to solve the problems. Other than that, the new Classifieds are leaps and bounds ahead of the old forum-based version. As with any new feature, it'll take some getting used to, but it really is better in so many ways.

We just recently removed the secondary messaging feature from the Classifieds and are working to integrate the Forum's PM feature into it aside from the remaining email method.

That would be a problem with the seller not replying. The seller probably doesn't have email notification set up when someone replies. It would be easier if this was turned on by default.

It blows, then again i'm happy to have a free forum to buy and sell stuff which I've done a few times here all successfully and I thank audizine for, so I really can't complain. I just like the old format better.

Because using the forums for the classifieds is such a half-assed way of doing it. The current setup offers numerous enhancements and advantages that we just can't offer with the old setup.

- More ads w/ photos (integrated photo hosting)
- Better category breakdown
- Better/exclusive search
- Buy now with PayPal
- Integrated buyer/seller feedback system
- Zip-code integration
- Automated timed ad expire
- Greatly reduced occurrence of thread jacking (perhaps one of the biggest pluses)

I could go on.

I've spent some time searching around the new classifieds and even posted a WTB post. It is growing on me and for the reasons Anthony made in the last post I think its a good step.

What do you think about adding the new classified to the drop-down menu bar in the bottom right corner of our screens? I use that to go between the forums themselves and would often hit the classifieds on my way down. Now I have to go up to the top of the screen and click the big 'classifieds' link.


I also noticed there is a feedback/profile feature in the new classifieds. That will come in handy!

I think the new layout is just too busy. The simplicity of the previous format was just easier on the eyes.

I have seen this same format on another forum its called dsmsource for all diamond star motor cars aka eclipse,talon,laser. I just got pissed when I would try to sell things and other people would post new stuff and my ad would be 5 days old and would be on the 6th page back and nobody would view it. I would really like to go back to the old style so I can bump my FS threads instead of having to create a whole new one and taking up more bandwidth and going through the hassle of uploading the same pics again and again.

That's to stem abuse. How often does someone really need 10 ads up at one time!? At that point I'd also wonder/worry about the quality of all those ads. I have a hard enough time managing 2 or 3 ads at once.

But, if the demand is really there, we can raise it. Especially for more established accounts.

Lack of demand. We have the Misc/Other categories for just that reason.

i like the new classifieds a lot. resembles ebay and i prefer that type of viewing style. i haven't listed an ad yet so i can't pass judgement on that yet but so far i give it a .

Actually, they essentially were broken. The old system was not an efficient way of doing things, and was lacking a number of key features in comparison to the new. The demand for improvement was there, and it was something I'd personally wanted to tackle for a long time. We were finally able to invest the money, time, and energy into the new feature and we are extremely happy with the results.

The final key to the new setup will be regional-focused sections, for those preferring to deal locally and not ship. We're still working that part out. This may come in the form of new subforums within the Regional Forums or new subsections within the Classifieds Section. More on that coming soon.
