So I went to the dealer today....

I had a blown check valve at the back of my engine block close to the firewall.

The dealer wanted 45 bucks for the check valve?

Anybody else see anything expensive about the 45 dollars I didn't want to spend on it??

Their are only 4~6 check valves in the 1.8T depending on you MY. My '02 Avant took 5 -- 4 one-way valves and 1 two-way valve. All MY's have only 1 two-way valve.

My dealer's list on those was also $46/each. After saying a few "holy-molies" to the parts guy and mentioning I could pick up somewhere else local for $20/each he said he could go down to $22/each.

I got a Knipex brand crimp plier and bought replacement OEM crimp style clamps from the dealer also.

It is located right by the suction-jet-pump, right rear of engine cover. It's the black-colored part in the pic from this AW post. The two-way is the one right next it that has the small vac line going out it's side at 90 degrees. There is also a one-way close by in the same area.
