    Swapping Bumpers

Okay, so im not the the most experianced wrencher, im only 17, but im selling my front bumper to my friend, and hopefully landing a nice deal on a rieger front bumper.

Now, my question is, all you aftermarket bumper dudes, did you guys strip your stock bumper, of the re-bar, fog lights, headlight washers, horn, wiring, e.t.c? and mounted it onto your aftermarket bumper?

    im confused with the process..

    help plz.

another question, what would be a reasonable price to sell my stock front bumper, its not the greatest condition, (almost 100k miles) has some dings and scratches, but other then that its in good condition.

    thanks!

    Re: Swapping Bumpers

as far as the rieger goes i dont know for sure the rebar and structural stuff like that should be fine. the washer pump should mount up fine and unless they supply you with the covers they should fit as well. Whatever they don't supply you with should be direct fit from your old bumper.

what is the problem with putting the new bumper on if your having problems check out a4mods.com .

    Re: Swapping Bumpers

its not my new bumper, i dont have it yet, i cant get my 6mm hex bolts back in all the way.

dont know how to line em back up. =[

i put the bumper back on all the way, but now its a bitch to close my hood, the bumper isnt on exactly like i took it off and therefore is a bit higher then be4 and prevents my hood from closing all the way, it closes but all i have to do is slightly pull up and it comes undone.

    Re: Swapping Bumpers

You shouldn't have any fitment issues. You may need to adjust the re-bar, some screws, etc. A good habit is to test fit the bumper before actually tightening any of the screws and bolts.

^^^I don't think you can adjust the bumper height with the rebar, can you?
You may just have to adjust the latch...

    Re: Swapping Bumpers

^^correct, not sure if he removed the entire rebar or something. I actually just helped a friend remove a front bumper with a fmic and the stock bumper was squeezed so tightly against the rebar because of the way the shop installed the fmic. They had to adjust the depth of the rebar to make the fmic fit, so it caused fitment issues with the stock bumper. Because of that, the stock bumper right in front was pushed up (not sure if you can really imagine what I am talking about) that there was barely any clearance between the between the hood and bumper.

I was just speaking of different reasons why it could be mis-aligned, that's all.

    Re: Swapping Bumpers

I do know exactly what you mean, I've had my bumper on and off so many times I could do it with my eyes closed. But from the sounds of his issue I doubt it would be the rebar. It sounds like one of those times where a simple fix is what he needs; maybe pull the bumper off and see if it doesn't line up the next time.

    Re: Swapping Bumpers

well they figured it out it was the re-bar. =)

its in a new thread. He had an issue with the re-bar bolts not going in all the way.
