    Light Weight Battery Kit!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I got my hands on one of HP Autowerks prototype light weight battery mount kits for the Braille battery. Nice kit. Bolts in place of the stock battery, even uses stock hold down bracket. Looks like it should fit any other vehicle with the same size battery. I am running the 11lb carbon battery. I need to weigh my stock battery and let you all know the weight savings.
I found some info on E90Post:
    contact: [email protected]

For those interested in a light weight Braille battery and mounting plate set-up that will be a very easy bolt-in to your E36/38/39/46/90 chassis please send us a PM.

Mounting plate will be a light weight aluminum, which will fit with either of the 11, 15 or 21 lbs Braille light weight battery. Weight savings is as much as 41 lbs when compared to a stock size BMW battery.

We would like to get an idea how many we should produce.

The price for the hold down kit is $85.

As for the battery, there are a few choices:

    SKU: B3121
    Weight: 21 lbs

At 21 pounds the Braille B3121 offers over 1300 cranking amps, but still weighs 50% less than its closest competitor. Perfect for Audio Systems, Extreme Motors, and Premium Luxury Vehicles! More details...
    Price: $179.99

    or

    SKU: B2015
    Weight: 15 lbs

The Spec B2015 is also perfect for daily street use, even in colder climates. Braille developed the B2015 to excel at racing and to easily power street vehicles equipped with A/C, stereos and power accessories. More details...
    Price: $159.99

    or

    SKU: B14115
    Weight: 11 lbs 8 ozs

The battery that started the revolution – The B14115 is the most popular lightweight automotive specific battery on the market today! With a weight of only 11.5 pounds and plenty of power to start V-8 engines, see why racers and car designers demand this battery. More details...
    Price: $149.99

If you choose to use the Carbon Fiber batteries, prices are $70-$80 more per battery:

    Re: Light Weight Battery Kit!!

^^ Just noticed, is that battery wrapped in carbon fiber? the one in the installed a3 pic, cause the pic at the very top of this thread, its not carbon wrapped. Where could the carbon wrapped kit/tray be purchased and how much?

EDIT: noticed the carbon fiber battery option at the bottom for an additional $70-80, sweet!

Hey Dutch, small world. Was hanging out with Harold at SoCal Euro. Met him before thru some mutual friends and didn't make the connection until we talked about this bracket of yours. :)

BTW, I see that you're running the Evoms intake. Let me know if you want to switch it up to a Neuspeed P-Flo with the extension.

I might need to give Harold a call.

I've been wanting something like this for a while.

You guys should check out the VoltPhreaks batteries, though. Certainly not cheap by any stretch, but the absolutely lightest available anywhere.

No problems starting the car in the morning. I have let the car sit for up to two weeks at a time and it starts right up.

Thumbs up Re: Light Weight Battery Kit!!

You could use the 11.5lb or the 15lb battery. I would use the 15lb for colder climates. HP Autowerks is putting a batch together, so all you guys who are interested should contact
    [email protected] with your order.
I had to take my battery out to install the VF Engineering transmission mount. The battery kit was easy to remove/install and I didn't break my back either.

Try using something a little more up to spec :)

    Braille's aren't worth it IMO.

If money isn't a problem I'd recommend this. Alot of the Rx7 guys are using it and it works. www.voltphreaks.com 10 year warranty, 4.5 or 6lb battery and more CC then a most conventional. I have used the oddessy Pc680 and it works great but only if you DD and don't let it sit (Project cars).

    PC680 in mine...
