How do you remove the glove box? + DICE ipod touch Install

So I've looked through the tutorials for the glove box removal and each and everyone I could find was about the B6 (http://a4mods.com/index.php?page=web...s/icelink.html), and each time they say that there's only 5 bolts, our B7s have way more! There's 5 in the top near the lid alone, two in the back of the glove box and two below next to the hinge, and even then the top right corner still seemed to be stuck as if there's one more bolt.

How do you reach that one? Do you need to take off the right side panel?

I finally manged to fish out the cable with the glow box just barely hanging there with a gap on the left side, but still rather firmly stuck on the right side.

In case anyone is wondering you can still close the glove box with the docking cable on top or side of the lid.

The ipod Touch does lock itself if you leave the dice box in the default setting which is:

    |up up| |up up|

You have to restart your ipod to gain control back, but then you lose last/next track control on steering wheel so it's useless, and you get no track info on dash no matter what you do.

I set it in the position below. You have steering wheel and ipod screen control, no track info on dash, and ipod doesn't lock up each time.

    |up up| |down down|

I was scratching my head for your whole post til I saw the pictures. I had never heard of a "glow" box before. I was thinking there was something related to the sparkplugs or turbo.

You mean, "glove box" or "glove compartment".

    Good luck!

Ok, I've done this so many times I can do it in my sleep. You need a ratchet with a 10mm (I think) attachment and an extension. There are 6 total bolts you have to remove: two at the bottom, two inside the glove box in the back where those shelves are, and then two right above where the lid closes (with the glove box OPEN). You'll want to remove the bottom ones first and save the middle bolt that's at the back of the shelves for last, as the box might drop after you remove the final bolt. You'll want to remove the side panel before you start taking the bolts out, you remove it with your key or a flat bladed screw driver just like the fuse panel on the driver's side. Good luck and PM me with any questions. Getting it down is easy, but getting it back up and screwed in is kind of a bitch. I suggest doing the bottom two first when putting back up for obvious reasons.

Hah ya sorry for the typo, I blame it on auto correct.

Thanks for the instructions davis, I had a hunch that you have to remove the side panel I just wasn't sure if it had a lock in the hinge that might get broken so I didn't try to force it.

What kit is that? Looks like a really long wire from the Dice Box to the ipod.

Where do you have the box mounted?

I got it from ebay for 140$, it's the i-audi-r, the cable can almost reach the backseat passenger area with the glove box opened. The only thing I didn't like is that about 3/4 of the cable is wrapped in black hockey stick type electrical table so it takes away from a clean install look, but it's not that bad.

There's a perfect spot for the box right behind the radio/climate control on the right side, the area is even padded with foam so it won't move around if you really wedge it in properly.

I just installed mine today. I put the module behind the factory ipod adapter then put it back in for a factory look. I then ran the wire under the glove box and into the module.

Then I ran the wire down the center console under the molding. It pops out by my cup holders and you cant see a thing.

Re: How do you remove the glove box? + DICE ipod touch Install

I stored my DICE unit in the center console, under temp controls next to auto shifter, if you can even picture that. I ran my ipod cable under the center console and out of the bottom on passenger side. It rests in the little storage area under the arm rest. I then ran a line in cable through the center console into the glove box, but I did not remove my glove box. I just somehow fished the wire through there and was able to grab it. So I have that line in cable sitting wrapped up on top shelf of glove box for non iPods.

I leave mine in the glove box on shuffle and use the steering wheel to forward through. Why leave it out to only have to hide it every time you exit the car?

Running the cable under the console looks good I'll try it out sometime.

    This looks interesting:
