S4 auto to manual ?

Looking at used S4 Avants I noticed there are alot of really nice autos for sale kept in good condition. Manual versions go on average about 5k more. I know stasis sells a manual transmission, can anyone tell me roughly how much it would be to convert an auto to manual? I figure with differences in amounts I would save 5k off the bat buying an auto, then 4k for a new stasis transmission, even if it cost 2k to switch it might be worth it considering you would be getting a new tranny... any opinions?

From what I have read it is not worth it. I think it costs alot more than 5k so you might as well go with a 6 speed off the bat. Search, I know this has been convered many times.

I was chattin back and forth with someone on the east coast that did it. He went from 6speed to tip, and if i recall correctly it wasent to expensive.

I'd say if you had an entire donor car to take ALL the components needed for the swap, then it could be done..I'm pretty sure the entire drive system, axles, final drive, etc. are different, not to mention the electronics, computers, dash, steering wheel, downpipes and so on. All that stuff sourced on it's own would get expensive.People have done it.. but it would still be easier in my opinion to wait and source a good 6spd to buy.

He didnt know how to drive a stick But i just talked to him recently and had one of his friend teach him. He is now swapping back to 6speed.

Me too, that does not make any logical sense....How hard is it to learn to drive a manual versus the cost of swapping 6 speed-auto, and then auto back to 6-speed???

People did prefer to buy an auto NSX then swap it to manual because auto would not be beaten-up so bad by previous owners.
