ok so i got the stuff for my tranny fluid change... i heard and read that i needed a special tool to undo the fill plug on the tranny... (6 spd manual) but in the manual i just got it says its just a 10 mm allen bolt, for the fill and drain plug? just like it is for the rear differential.. am i looking at something wrong or did i get fed a line?

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.

thats weird because both the drain and fill are 10 mm hex heads... i have the 17mm from a buddy that has an s4 and his mom has an a6.. needed it for them, but i got underneath the car and ready to pull the plugs and im like wtf? so i had to go to work and get my PB swiss made metric allen wrenches, and sure enough it was 10 mm? same as the rear diff

    Re: well then...

ok, i removed the drain plug, let it drain all day yesterday while i was at work, and over night on level ground... go out this morning to pull the the drip pan out, measured using measuring cups to see how much oil was in there... and yeah there wasnt even 2 liters of oil in the tranny!!!!! theres supposed to be 2.5 correct? according to the bentley manual and such... check out my gallery for the two pics i took of the drain plug, with no plug in it, and the fill plug, and just to be sure, let me know that those are the correct and only means of draining and filling the transmission..!!!!!!

yea, its weird... Usually not all 3 quarts come out... If only 2 came out, put in a little extra than 2 just to be safe.... I put in 3 in mine reguardless of how much came out
