So, this winter, my turbo got an underboost error code when it was well below 0 degrees here in Minnesota. After checking for leaks, etc. no problems were found. The car had a slight hum from the turbo under heavy acceleration, but it was still cold out. I decided to nurse it into spring to see if there would be any change with the warmer air.
Now it is 100 degrees out and the squeal is slowly starting to sound more and more like the famed "dentist drill". However, it is not consistent and is only under full acceleration. It also seems to go away after the car has been driven for 30 minutes plus.
The A4 is my daily driver and only has 55k on it. I actually prefer this car over my others because of its relative agility and I'm not afraid to park it at stores.... etc.

My question to you is what would you do? I definitely won't throw the cash at it to go BT, otherwise I'd just get a B8 or E90. Is there a "cheap" way of finding if it is actually the turbo? How long will this one last?

you can just get another K03 for $1xx... I have mine just sitting here if you want it (for real cheap). That one could last you a few years, I would have a backup plan ready but if its not broken, dont mess with it until it is you know?

Yeah dude. I was considering that as an option. I plan on bringing the car to a performance shop in town to see what they can draw up. The owner has an S6... I might try buy it off him.

Send me some more info on your K03 and tell me what you want for it. [email protected]
