Note to self: Get Black A4 next time!

Actually, I love my silver avant (I think it's the classic Audi color), but after busting my ass for 8 hours, it just doesn't have that WOW factor of a black Audi after a detail. Oh, and I need some coilovers and new wheels BAD!

Picked up car 4 months ago, and for being a used car, the paint is in remarkably good shape, typical 3 year old car scratches and rock chips aside. Hopefully I can do some touch up paint and scratch correction when I get more time.

But I FINALLY got to do a full detail with all of the product I got from Phill at DD, and after it sprinkled this afternoon, the Swissvax Saphir made a HUGE difference. Beading is awesome (didn't get pic unfortuntately). The best part was applying it. That stuff smells AMAZING!

    Used:

    Swissvax Car Bath
DD Clay Bar with Swissvax Detail Spray
    PC with Menzerna PO 106
    Swisswax Saphir
    Swissvax Pneu
    P21S Auto Wash
    P21S Wheel Cleaner
    Swissvax Crystal

    Enjoy!

Yeah, it doesn't look that much different because silver barely shows dirt compared to black. I agree though, a black car is a pain in the ass to take care of but after a wash or at dusk/night it's so worth the effort.

Thanks man! And I definitely agree with you Tiesto, which is half the reason I don't mind the silver. It is low maintenance for sure.

But I just wanted to get that base protection detail done, so I'm happy. My paint laughs at rain now!

I like the silver, and bought a quartz gray B7 because even though black is nice after detailing (nothing looks better than black after detailing), the effect only last for a few minutes driving down the road. Even when my quartz is really dirty/dusty, it still looks damn good. My black cars and black motorcycles have taken their toll. Enjoy your gorgeous silver.

Re: Note to self: Get Black A4 next time!

Most of my friends have black cars: 335, A3, G35 and all of them said they are NOT going to get black for the next car.

I agree they have the best WOW factor, but they are the hardest to maintain and defects are easiest to see on black cars.

The only way I would get black is if it was a weekend driver and a really nice car.

I have a black car that has acid rain damage and 88,000 miles. I busted my ass detailing it for over 10 hours this weekend and it still shows a lot of problems. I dont like black, silver is common but so much easier to deal with for a daily driver. I admit that I think I need a more aggressive machine/pad combo (Im using a cyclo that I dont really care for very much) but still, that color just shows every freaking tiny scratch and mark.

    black ftl!

red is my favorite Audi color. I dont know that marketing name they apply to it these days, but laser red from the B5 years in particular is just awesome.

I agree about boring silver, but black is overrated. True it looks nice when clean and glossy, but that's only 5% of the time. The other 95% is spent trying to keep it looking good. I'm sticking with grays from here out, or even blue. Yeah, a sprint blue would be nice on my next car....
