there is actually a special tool that keeps the pulley still while you turn the nut. the DIY mentions it as the "chopsticks tool" and says he made due without it but didn't say how. What I did was, on the bottom side behind the black pulley there is a hole about an inch deep. You stick the short side of a 6 or 7mm allen in there through one of the long slots in the black pulley and turn the pulley so the allen stops the black pulley from moving. then take a cresent wrench and put it on the nut that connects the 2, and turn it to the RIGHT. its a reverse thread.

putting it back on is the reverse obviously, but make sure you have a slot with the allen snug, or else you may bend the clutch fan blades or the pulley. Turn it to the left when tightening.

The threads on the nut that holds the fan on is left hand thread. I used a adjustable wrench and tapped it with a hammer usually loosens the nut right up. I can't remember what I did to hold the fan from moving. Mine came off fairly easily, good luck with yours. Hope this helped.

if you are doing all that, i highly recommend the VAST EFK kit. That fan clutch thing is horrible.
