as long as when you go do emission you pass you're fine. They can't prove you have one on the spot.
    you're doing testpipe now?

    Re: Test pipe fine?

^^^ thats not true. MTO has 'sniffers' equipped in some of their impalas. they can pull you over any time and do a test. I remember hearing the fine is 400$ per cat which was removed (don't know how true that is though).

thats bullshit. MTO does nothing about drunk driving.
MTO is in charge of all the safety/emissions crap, and they're the ones you have to worry about. SOME of them are ass-hats.

Well the way it would work is they would test your emission and then they would look under your car or tell you to pop your hood in our case

    Re: Test pipe fine?

Do what I did on my Celica, gut out the existing cat and leave the shell. Visually it looks like you have one, but it won't pass emissions. Seriously, the only reason to dump the cat is if it's clogged, which will damage your engine. I plan on changing it to a high flow one, better for the car.

If an MTO officer or a police officer believes for any reason that your car has been modified they can order you directly to an inspect station. There they can check everything over... as for a hollowed out cat, tapping on it with a stick will be enough to know its just outer shell only.

Unless you're a major attitude case that street races its not a high priority.... MTO is more concerned with commercial truck safety.

I have a brand new test pipe sitting in my basement now, I purchased it a year ago but through all the posts I've seen, I decided not to put it on afterwards.
