The lowest hole would yield the shortest shift. If there are no instructions watch the JHM install video.

Re: question on short shifters, I searched

The eBay shifter is a direct copy of the B&M. Go to their site and download the instructions...used them on my '96, and they were a 100% match and well written. Especially be careful with the springs...shot the detent one across the garage, and searched for 10 minutes to find it.

In anycase, it is an OK shifter for the money, but no where near the incredible shifting from the full JHM kit I have on the '98 Avant...light years of difference. Again, you get what you pay for.

P.S. Be careful installing the white slide bushings as they break easily. Also had to drill out the blue-yoke part to use the OEM bolt on the bottom, the one with the kit was too short and definitely not up to the task. Also had to beat the S**T out of the reverse-detent to get it into the shaft, as the fit was beyond tight. Take your time getting it to work in all gears, as that is pretty important...don't wan't to make the thing work worse than OEM. No biggie, just passing those tips on. Been on for six months, became smoother after a week or two, and no problems to report...worth the ~$30 I paid for it.

Save your money and get the JHM shifter. I'm running the B&M and I'm not happy with it. I am done playing around with the adjustments.

All 3 of us use all of the JHM shifter mods and are all fastest in our class

Dan fastest K03 setup (low 12's)
    Jason - Fastest K04 setup (low 11's)
Mine - Fastest B5 (happens to be an 2 liter A4) in the 10's.

IIRC the Eurocode S4 that I ran 10.8 with also had the JHM shifter.

Before going with the JHM shifter I could not stand any of the other SS kits that were in other A4's that I had driven, which is why sported the stock shifter till Jason came out with his setup. By far it is light years ahead of the other SS kits.

I need to drive a car with the JHM shifter. I really want to see how much of a difference there really is. All the products that JHM offer are great. I also love how he is an actual part of the community. This shifter is going to be my next shifter...

Well Socaleuro is this sunday so I am sure you will be able to find a car with the JHM shifter at that event.

Greg will be at the event in the Eurocode booth and he has the JHM shifter in his B6.
