    German Spec RS4 engine? /Nurburg Show/ 56k

Does anyone know if a German Spec RS4 engine would fit directly into a US spec S4?

They sell complete engines overhere for 4-6k euros, I would get 20 percent off of that and then convert to dollars around 7-9k dollars. If I buy a high mileage S4 and ship it over it may be cheaper than buying a stage 3 kit, plus I would get a brand new engine. But I think the numbers would only work if it would bolt up without extra modfications, not sure about the ecu either.

also, some picks from a car show at nurburg this weekend, got three laps around formula one track in a gtr rs, so fun, only in germany can you sign a paper, they hand you a helmet , and off you go with a professional driver and full race prepped cars.

Yes it's the same block and will go right in. Why not buy the RS4 instead that way you'll get the interior, suspension, body, etc...it's not just the engine that's different from the S4.

I cant bring a german RS4 back to the states, so I am looking for a NA spec and do the add on thing. The B7 RS4 has a special white edition that comes with recaro seats with white backs and white steering wheel, I think thats whats in the B5 RS4 interior.

so I am guessing you are in the Military? you could always try to bring a euro spec RS4 over. I know there are at least 3 of them over here. but I don't think they can be drivin everyday and I know I would want to drive the car everyday

OMG that exchange rate is so depressing everytime I see it... It must be cool as hell though to be able to drool over real-life B5 RS4's! Those white ones are SICK!!!

To your question: Like chris23 said, it is the same block so it will bolt right up. But it does have slightly different components/accesories that you need to make sure it comes with (airbox, MAF, Y-pipe, turbo piping, etc.). I'm pretty sure the RS4 has the same tranny, but you may just want to make sure there are no slight variations there. GL and let us know how it goes

I wish I could bring one back, but looks likes its to much, even if they will register it, which is always up in the air, you have to post the amount of the vehicle as bond while in process, and pay port fees the whole time. Then it might get rejected. The only other way is if the car is over 20 years old, then it can be registered as antique. I have been thinking of a RS2, but dont know if I will be here that long for it to meet the 20 year rule. I have been muling over some different plans, hoping to find something over here for sale, but looks like I might have to import from states, so trying to figure out the costs. Might even just by a B7 S4 and get some RS4 goodies for it (seats, bumpers). They are always the fastest cars on the road. I was coming back yesterday from that show, doing about 115/120 mph, when one came up and passed me like I was doing 60 mph, sigh.

Definitely only a handful of real B5 RS4's in the US; and a few which have been bodged-together with various parts. There is only one Registered Importer who has been successful with getting them federalized; JK Technologies.

    http://convert2us.com/

I have spoken with them on the phone before and the have qouted a minimum of $18,000 to do the job. One of the originals taken to the states was owned by Josh at Achtuning.

Still mulling over one day bringing one back to the 'States, as I do see them going for around the mid-25,000 Euro mark these days in the South of France where I split time. Would love to pick up a low mile one and do the conversion...just would need to be patient and pony up some huge bucks.

BTW the RS2 was never approved for grey-import, and the RS4 has been (given all of the changes that have to be done), also the number of years to be exempt is 25, sorry so anything newer than 1983 is a no-go at this point...just need to wait long enough.

Yeah, thats why I have been thinking of NA spec S4, B5 or B7, then just modify as much as I could finiancially. With the euro its even tougher for me. My customs office said 20 years, but I have heard both, so your positive its 25? Thats good to know. My other idea is to buy a 190e evo 1, they are going for around 15k...
