Just curious. how much would it cost to convert my car to a stick?

lol, theres nothing like driving a 6spd. i dont care how fast autos get i still will always want a stick.

New engine (or crank if you feel like taking apart your engine to save some $$$), transmission, possibly driveline components as well if the auto is longer/shorter in length, interior setup (all new pedals, brackets, lines, etc.)

Anybody who thinks undertaking this would be a good idea wins the Darwin award. Not saying you would though.

nothing can out-shift a good automatic trans...thats why indie cars are automatic..for all you people that think you are much better than auto's...and they also produce more torque due to have torque converters!

Source? All cars lose power through an automatic transmission more than a manual. I don't know how an auto can provide more torque than an engine makes, especially with that loss factored in.

Also, F1 cars are not using Tiptronic. Or torque converters.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but having a Torque Converter doesn't mean that you are making more torque. Actually you are losing more power to the wheels by having an Automatic with a Torque Converter. A Torque Converter allows a cars engine to run while the transmission and wheels are not moving. It can engage and disengage while driving it. It transfers rotating power to get the car in motion. F1 cars use different Automatics, Like DSG in Audi and VW Dual Clutch Technology or like SMG (Substantial Manual Gearbox) in BMW. The transmissions in F1 cars are more like manuals that don't have a clutch than an automatic that you can shift. F1 cars have automatic clutch's instead of Torque Converters. This is why DSG or SMG cars are very jerky in low speeds because the clutch is engaging and disengaging as where a torque converter would stay engaged till motion.

Under certain conditions a torque converter does indeed multiply torque, acting like a lower gear. I don't know enough to explain how it works, but google can help you!

from what i heard the engine internals are different from tiptronic...so probably u need a new engine too in order to convert to manual

I wouldn't even try to think of the answer... If someone wanted a manual transmission, the best answer is always to trade the car for one with the desired transmission.

If you want to do it you should. People are doing crazier mods than this, e.g. the guy in Norway who converted an A4 to an RS4. I wonder how much that cost?
