    Smoke from Exhaust

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well, i did a search on the forums for smoke coming from the exhaust and found a thread or two suggesting that it may be from coolant leek from a turbo seal. The only problem is that i don't have a turbo (3.2 ftw). This car is a 2007 S-line Titanium 3.2 Quattro 6MT that i purchased new from the dealer (yes they had the car for over a year). The smoke that is coming from the exhaust is (as best i can tell) white. It seems to happen only under harder acceleration such as going up a hill or gunning it down a street. I am going to take it to the dealer on monday or tuesday, but i wanted your opinions first.

    Thanks

    Re: Smoke from Exhaust

white smoke is normally coolant. hopefully not but it could be something simple. def bring it back and have the dealer check it bc that should not be happening

    Re: Smoke from Exhaust

there have been gasket problems on the coolant system for B7 A4's.

I had 2 replaced under warranty on my 2.0T.

Do you smell anything when you drive? Generally coolant is pretty potent and easy to smell... its a sweeter smell. Take it to your dealership.

    Re: Smoke from Exhaust

i also have 3.2. i had a blown valve seal that was leaking oil into the cylinders. mostly saw the smoke when starting car and under heavy acceleration. it was black though.

hope that's not the problem. good luck!

    Re: Smoke from Exhaust

Black Smoke = Fuel Mixture (MAF/Injectors/FP)
Blue Smoke = Oil Burning (Valve Gaskets/Crank Vent Valve/etc)
    White Smoke = Coolant (Head Gasket/Valley Pan/etc)

If you're seeing why you're seeing coolant. Get it checked and let the dealer work it out.
