Angry Symphony II+ clock bug! [pics no56k]

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was driving home last night after a show and the clock rolled through midnight. I had the radio off, so it only showed the time. This is what I saw:

yeah, blurry and taken with my phone. i turned the radio on and let it go to screensaver, and the bug continued:

after finding a parking lot to pull into, i checked the car's computer to see if i accidentally set it to 24-hour:

i didn't, and turning on 24-hour didn't change the deck at all. i changed the clock to be 1:06 AM and the deck responded properly, then back to 12:06 AM and it again showed 00:06 AM. has anybody else seen this?

if this is my deck, i'll see if i can wrangle the dealer out of a new one under warranty. if it's the whole line, then that's just sloppy. <rant> i'm a programmer, and i've had experience with assembly code (closest to binary you should resonably get) to memory-managed languages like C# and java. string manipulation to show a damn clock isn't hard. shit, digital clocks have been around for DECADES, and my $35k car can't get it right? </rant>

ok, haha, "Help Me" was the name of the song. jeez. no, the next titles weren't "i'm trapped in" and "the octane studio".

shortyepic, you get this too? AudiWxGuy, that's what I thought too, but (a) I don't know of a way to set the deck to 24-hour (setting it on the DIS doesn't change the deck) and (b) it still shows AM/PM, and the PM hours are 12 to 11, not 12 to 23.

Dude. Same issue here. Noticed it months ago, interesting. Only does it 12 at night. In the afternoon it says 12. And its not on 24-hr time. Crazy stuffs. I laugh whenever I see it now.

The Symphony II+ was developed by Blaupunkt, I believe. As easy as the clock is developing... all it takes really is for the programmer to not think of all possible scenarios and all of a sudden the clock goes into an unknown state and craps out... maybe you can pull the battery to reset the system. re-setting the clock won't fix it... it's gotta "reboot" to go back into a correct state... you should familiar with state machines... give it a try.

My clock's been like that ever since new, I'm pretty much guessing that this is normal. It is not military time or such and the 'day' actually starts at 00...German-designed I guess.

Stupid question... but how do you get the II+ to display the time? I've coded it to have the Clock display possible (though setup) but never found the setting to make it display.

I think you need to change it on both the radio menu and via VCDS in the radio module. From memory you can show the clock or the speed. I had tried both at some point in time and have now got it set for speed but turned off from the radio menu.
