Call DHX - Dependable Hawaii Express I think?
You can get a 20ft container from them, although i think there are requirements on shipping your car in there, so please ask them.

Re: How to get my stuff and Car over to hawaii?

a container is expensive...I went the cheap route and shipped my car through Matson and checked loads and loads of luggage in (flew back and forth a few times). that's probably not the best way anymore with the price of tickets and checked baggage costs.

if he's moving furniture, then there's no other way to go than by getting a container.

Aloha Boris!! I moved from NJ to Hawaii, got a 40ft container and packed up my junk..as to the car, I drove it cross country and put it on Horizonlines in Long Beach CA...took about 2-3 weeks for the car to show up..couple of hints...make sure your friend keeps his/her inspection report -- they did a bit of damage to my paint -- it could have been worse -- you will not be able to collect on damages if you drive your car away without filing a report, not that horizon is bad, just a bit of risk mgt...make sure that you have less than 1/4 tank in the car when you ship it. this is a coast guard regulation that is strictly enforced...I was an ass the night before my dropoff and FILLED the tank and then proceeded to drive like a maniac for roughly 4-5 hours around the docs and offramps before I got the gas down to an acceptable level so they could ship it...if you miss the drop of time, you are SOL, so be very careful with this one!!

when she/he moves, put the bill for all the movers on a CC so if they try to pull a fast one on you by "charging you more because you have too much crap" you can file a claim with your CC company -- our mover tried to charge us another 5K -- my wife went ballistic and they reversed the charge and put the shipper on notice...check with the shipper of they CAN use a container to deliver..if the final destination is in an area with small/winding roads, they will have to offload, hire another local freight forwarder and deliver in smaller increments, which will add to the cost and cause (potentially) more damage....small winding roads good for your audi, not so good for a 40ft container...have fun, good luck on the move and safe travels....peace!

My little brother had this easy, however he was in the Navy and they would ship whatever he wanted for free. Is your friend moving for a military related job? If so, it shouldn't cost him a cent

Hey Jesse, ya man, I was looking at pics of my car and shes not really a looker, just plain silver..you know I really wish she was a more interesting color. I remember when I bought the car I wanted to get a real sleeper color.

Jesse, do you have a place to work on the car over there? Im not sure yet where I am living.

btw, you guys like living there? Anyone into surfing or waterpolo? I played in college and after for clubs and was wondering if there were any good waterpolo clubs out there?

Look forward to meeting you guys too, seem like real nice guys.

Whats up (What was your name again? :] ) Armadillo!

Silver is still a good color. Who cares if your car is stock.. lets see some pics!

As far as working on the car, I mostly go to Raudi's (Gino, I think his name is 808guy on AW) house. He is the resident S4 guru. If its something simple like oil change or regular maintenance I make use of the craft shop on the military base or if I can in my driveway.

As far as water polo, I have no clue about that one. I've asked some friends about it and the only place they know of is a private (High) school. I'm not too sure if the local colleges or University have that in their sports programs.

Give us a heads up when you arrive. We throw a gtg every other month or so.

Bwahah! Lets change out my upper oil pan gasket! That is real fun on these cars! My wife hates my car. It has occupied too much of my time.

Jesse my name is Lloyd! Like from Dumb and Dumber.

The car is stg 3, but outside looks real stock. She is not lowered in this picture, but I have put on some vogtlands recently and now is. I hope there are not too many potholes in HI.

BTW do thieves steal S4 parts? Or do they leave the B5 S4 alone in HI?

Thanks all you guys for being so nice to Armadillo. It will be fun putting faces to names later.

Shes not even clean here. But she looks better in the dark.

Haha, Audi's or any German branded cars are not common hot item on the black market here. Thieves target the japanese imports and domestics. So no need to worry about your S4 getting jacked.

    Yea this isn't Dirty Jerz.

Car looks good Lloyd! As far as potholes they are pretty abundant.

Oh for a good while I couldn't figure out what you meant, because I used to have a shaggin wagin, a big van with a bed in the back in it! But yeah, thats one of the few movies where someone is named Lloyd. That and Say Anything
