Hey Guys...I'm new on this forum and even to the German world...I've been driving toyotas for the past 7 years and decided to go with an A4 with my last car purchase...I picked up a 05 A4 6spd manual....now to the problem....sometimes when i shift into 2nd and 3rd the gear seems to grind for a split second and then goes in...at first i thought i was just shifting before the clutch was fully in but then i started paying attention...turns out then when I try to shift quickly that's when it happens...for example if shifting from 2nd to 3rd if it's one straight motion 2-3 then there's a bit of a clink but if i let the shifter slip out of 2nd to neutral then push it into 3rd slowly theres nothing....anybody have any idea as to what this could be? cars only abut 2 weeks old for me now

I see...I guess I could take it into the dealership and see what they say...otherwise how much roughly would an install for new synchros cost me?

    Re: Gear Grinding?!?!?!

this exact same thing happens occassionally with my VR6. It doesn't happen all the time but i notice it every once in a while. Sounds like the same thing as what's happening with mine. I've never bothered to have mine looked at since it rarely occurs but mine is from 1st to 2nd gear. Usually at lower rpm's, such as when i shift in between about 2500 and 3000 rpm's it'll grind a little bit. I have never been able to figure it out but it hasn't been an issue.

    Courtesy of CO AVANT

"Try to re-align your syncros. When sitting at idle press in the clutch and quickly shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 2nd to 1st. Do the same 3rd to 4th to 5th to 4th to 3rd gear."
