    Headlight Switch

    I'm starting to work on my new A3 to fit in a few upgrades and I had a question about the headlight switch. There is a symbol to the left of the switch but the switch does not turn to the left. This looks like a fog light symbol. My A3 Premium package does have fog lights. I've seen an upgrade part at OEMPL.US that says it adds full functions. Anyhow just wanted to see if anyone had some insight on this little piece. Thanks!

    Re: Headlight Switch

    it lights up when you put the fogs on... which you do by pulling the dial outwards

    Re: Headlight Switch

    correct, you can't move the switch to the left...and as jefferson88 stated, it just indicates that if you pull it out, your fogs will turn on.

    i'm not positive, but the oempl.us one might have two of those symbols. if so, the lower one just indicates that you can have rear fogs enabled.

    Yeah I was thinking that might be it since it's the same switch that I had on my old 2000 Passat. The placement of the symbol just seems counter intuitive.

    Re: Headlight Switch

    krazyboi is right about the 2 fog symbols on the OEMpl.us switch. It has a two stage pull out. First notch puts on the rear fog (highly confusing to USA drivers) the second notch adds front fogs.

    Not sure if this works on the A3 but my older S4 will allow you to turn on the front/rear parking light if you move the turn signal stalk to the the left turn or right turn position and take the key out. Left illuminates the left lights and right illuminates the right lights. Handy for parking on a narrow street and want people spot your car.

    I'll have to take a closer look at it and see. I like the metal trim (which the stock does not have).

    Speaking from my own personal experience (since my Passat is A5 Golf based also)....the "Full Function" is misleading because, the way the car is programmed, may affect function of the euroswitch:

    For example: with North American DRLs enabled:
    Off = DRL
    Middle (parking) = DRL
    Full on = low beam and the rest of the lighting (including fogs if you pull it out).

    Double check with the VAG-COM with the long-coding helper to see what you can do.
