    Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Been working on the car for the past few days and have been getting my ass kicked today by a plastic clip. No matter what I do the clip will not go around the sensor once in place. The hose to the radiator is fine its just the sensor. There has got to be something that I am not doing right. Any help would be wonderful

push the sensor in farther , are you replacing the sensor? is their another o-ring in the sensor hole already that didnt get removed?

Re: Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

I had been pusing the sensor in to where I dont think it would have gone any further. I dont think that there was an o ring still in the fixture I will have to check. It just seemed like the clip did not want to open up around the sensor and wrap around it like it should.

Re: Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

Try it dry without an o-ring. It should be loose and fit easily. Then try it with the o-ring.

Re: Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

Got into it again this morning and there was no O ring in the fixture and the part had snapped with me trying to get it in. its not an expensive part but no parts stores in the area offer it except the dealership which is not open on Sat. If someone lead me in the right direction as far as which O ring to get would be great. Im thinking it is this one http://www.bimmerspecialist.com/usa/parts/index/audi# 2001 audi S4 Coolant Flang Plug. I searched O rings and think that is the one. It wont give me a direct link to the parts page sorry for that. Still had trouble getting the clip in without the O ring. Any tips appreciated

Re: Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

Working on that. The part number for the O ring is N 903 168 02 and the part for the horse shoe clip is 032 121 142. Could not get it to come up on the exact page so you can just plug in the part number at the website might help out a bit.

Re: Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

You are probably putting in the clip the wrong way. I had the same problem and took me about 5 minutes to realize how the clip went in.

Re: Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

ok so the sensor port comes out of the hose connecting to the radiator and has two slots opposite of each other. I have been going at it by trying to slide the clip in through one of the slits around the sensor and coming out the other slit. i didnt see any way else to do it but maybe it is wrong because it didnt even want to fit in withought the sensor in place.

Re: Radiator Horse Shoe Clip Problems

OK I think I figured it out and feel like a jackass about it now. Rotate clip quarter turn from what I have depicted above sliding the clip over the plastic with the prongs supporting the sensor and holding in place. Thanks for the help
