Help- S4 will not start or turn over

2004 S4- 6 Speed all stock 60,000 miles
Ok it all started when my serpentine belt broke on the way to work. I made it to work and back. Once we got it in the garage and changed the belt- it would not start again or even turn over.
1st we charged the battery. - Nothing.
2nd we worked with the clutch switches- it started.

Drove it a couple of days and then- after filling up with gas- Again a No Start or even crank. All the lights inside came on and everything, but it just would not turn over.

We researched and found that the starter may have a problem or the clutch may be bad.
1st- changed clutch switch- still no start.
2nd- Had the starter rebuilt.

Started fine and fast for 2 days.

Now again no start and no turning over.
1st- bought a new battery. - Nothing.
2nd- checked fuse # 28 and 29. Both OK

We are at our wits end and don't know what to do next. Car will not turn over.

Any ideas???

We try and do all the work ourselves to save a little $$$.

hmmm sounds like a starter to me we had the same problem in a a6 motor would not crank at all but everything would work. since it is a manual try to push start it with a couple of people pushing, might prove or disprove the starter theory

I just went through this same situation a few days ago (minus losing the belt). Sometimes it would start on the first turn of the key, and then sometimes I would have to turn the key 5-10 times before it would turnover/start. It ended up being a bad starter.
