    Catback for B6

I'm trying to decide which setup to go with. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on which setup is best. I've heard sound bites of the Milltek and AWE setups but none of the LaBree, FI or APR systems.

Just looking for some first-hand input from people who have heard the different setups and hopefully driven them as well. I want something with a nice deep rumble, but I'm not interested in making my car sound like a 5.0 Mustang.

You mentioned AWE, but you didn't put it on your list. You're not considering them? I think they're tops on my list right now - although I haven't made my decision final. Miltek is right there though...

That sounds awesome! As for the AWE setup, I forgot to include it in my poll then it was too late to edit it afterwards. I like the way it sounds though.

I know how much the AWE, APR & Milltek setups run, what do the LaBree & FI setups run?

Hey Oso, have you found a set-up that doesn't look have round cans? I prefer the more flat look that AWE has on the B7 S4 set-up, but the B6 looks a lot more round. Don't want that!

Yeah... I wish it was possible to use the B7 rear valance on a B6 car. I'd be sportin' dual tips in a heartbeat. Has anyone ever modded their rear valance to fit the later style exhaust?

about 1050 for the stainless. it is 200 more than the awe but IMO the awe cant hold a candle to it in terms of sound.

thank you x pipe resonated. i believe they are 8" resonators to sprial core mufflers which they do not offer anymore. you can only get it with the perforated core mufflers which are a bit quieter but less raspy and still emit a nice growl

Does anyone know if any of these downpipes with high flow cats is CARB approved? Out here in California, the louder exhaust might get some attention, and CARB might be necessary at that point. Thx.

    Re: Catback for B6

I was wondering if anyone is throwing CELs with the downpipes of these systems? I will likely do a chip at some point and if I go APR I will just get a test pipe profile added, but I would like to not have to go that route because I am interested in the VF supercharger as well. My desire would be to be able to run a full exhaust with stock ECU and not have to worry about a CEL.

Yeah mine was cut and then sanded to allow for bigger tips (rs4 style)

    Re: Catback for B6

I like the AWE setup, but the downpipes are so expensive. I've been reading the back and forth between Todd from AWE and some of the guys here over the cats on their setup vs. other setups. It's got me thinking. In the end I think I'm going to just go cat-back so that I don't have to deal with that issue.

I'm still listening to clips and reading what other guys are saying about their setups. I'm in no hurry. I want something I can live with.

    Re: Catback for B6

I spent a good amount of time reading posts and listening to YouTube clips before deciding on the FI x-pipe 8" resonated cat-back. It's great, and would buy it again. Awesome growl on start-up, and a nice smooth ascending tone.

Here's the review I wrote right after installing.
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213364

I actually think it has mellowed a bit with time. I can't compare with other systems, but I do love my setup.

Fast Intentions, 8" resonated X-Pipe all the way!! Sometimes I think...was a cat-back really a wise investment? Then I jump in the car, put the windows down, start up the car, grin from ear to ear, then hit full throttle and enjoy the best eargasm EVARR!!!! LoL

Something to consider, as well: All LaBree products are ON SALE right now. While Fast Intentions is certainly a superb option, the LaBree system is essentially the same product. Looks exactly the same and based on many hours of listening to exhaust clips, sounds the same, as well. I am strongly considering a set of LaBree downpipes for $1100 (regularly $1579.)

Whichever you choose, LaBree/FI is the best looking out of all the choices. Hands down. Highly polished oval mufflers without the ugly welded "seam" that APR/Milltek have, and the big 4" angled tips.

Didnt Brent from Labree work for FI a while back, then left and started Labree, hence the almost identical design?

Or is it the other way around?

Other way around. Danny worked at LaBree and left to start Fast Intentions. As I understand it, Danny spearheaded the design and development of the V8 S4 exhaust systems while at LaBree.

    A visual comparison:

APR- sorry, but this exhaust looks hideous

Milltek- this is a brand new exhaust. Notice the dull finish on the face of the muffler. Is that rust??? This is what I get for $1300???? Are you kidding me Milltek?

Fast Intentions- this is more like it.

LaBree- superb quality and really looks the job.

Milltek- this is a brand new exhaust. Notice the dull finish on the face of the muffler. Is that rust??? This is what I get for $1300???? Are you kidding me Milltek?

Fast Intentions- this is more like it.

LaBree- superb quality and really looks the job.

I'm honored (I'm the APR car)

I have to get mine fixed up because the installer bent the shit out of it when he put it in.

When straightened, I really don't see anything that will look different about it compared to the FI, except the APR is polished all the way.

They look completely different. Maybe it's just dirty but the exhaust on your car doesn't look polished at all. The LaBree/FI Sebring mufflers have a highly polished, smooth face. Much more shine than APR or Milltek. The APR and Milltek both have a welded seam on the face of the muffler can and both have a dull finish compared to the Sebring cans. Unacceptable for $1300.

Yeah, definitely just the fact those pictures were taken in very low light and the exhaust was a bit dirty. They are pretty much a mirror finish, every component. Once I get it fixed up I'll grab some pics when it's up on a hoist. Looking at your Milltek pictures, it looks NOTHING like that finish at all. If you look at the main body of the cans on the Milltek, that is how every surface of the APR looks.

By no means am I trying to be an APR fan boy here (the reason it's bent is because of fitment problems that the installer was unable to 'professionally' address) but I really did feel they were very good looking pieces, I was actually surprised when I cracked the boxes.

From all the clips I'd say that the FI and APR/Milltek combo are the best sounding. I happened to have a local APR dealer here though and was able to come in at a much lower price and have local support in case of any problems. I've had nothing but compliments of how it sounds since I've gotten it.

Yes, I saw your youtube vids and the APR fullback sounds great. In terms of sound, all of the aftermarket exhausts will put a smile on your face. I believe the difference comes down to build quality and appearance.
