DIY for Daytime Running Lights for C5 A6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys. Has anybody done a DRL mod for their C5 A6?

What do i need and where do I get it? I looked in my headlight housing and I have a little piece that looks like I can pop out a hole toward the top of the hi-beam housing portion.

    Thanks in advance guys!

VAG COM does not work for C5 A6 running lights. Had to be hardwired.

That little hole is for city lights used in Europe, you can re-drill the hole, get city light harness with bulb plug from VW Golf MKIV, one wire is for ground and other connect to your DRL harness plug, you can have your city lights as DRL
however you will need to do some rewiring so the only city light is drl and rest not if this is what you are looking for

    Thanks guys,
I was hoping that the vagcom could simply activate the low beam as a drl (easily, like the key fob remote window up/down setting), but I suspected that the wiring would prevent that. I've heard of the drill out city light mod, and to be honest I don't like playing with the factory wiring, but thanks again.

    Howdy,

Do you happen to have instructions or a link to hardwire a C5 A6 to use the fogs as DRL? I have already done the fog parking light bridge mod, but I have had a couple dead batteries after leaving the light switch on. I'd just like the fog and park lights to turn off with the ignition...?

    Thanks

CDN DRL's are the fog lights (plus markers), not the low beams. My guess is that the VAG-COM mod does work but is being blocked (for lack of a better word) by the fact that fog light function is tied to the low beams in the US model cars.

I have a US C5 A6 that was imported into Canada and I have the fog log - DRL mod. I'm not sure how it was done, but it would probably be wiring around the light switch and/or ignition. From the ignition, you could connect a harness to the wire from the switch that illuminates the fogs. That's what I would do.

However, it looks like some others have done this on other models...

I'm looking to do this VAG COM modification (fog parking light bridge mod) to my '05 Allroad. Do you have the instructions to do it? I've been searching but cannot find the steps for the C5 A6 and it's driving me nuts.

    Instructions:

I actually drilled my high beam reflector, and installed Cree 22 watt H1 LED with small projector lens there.
    Connected with this relay:
