Some pics for now. Test fit before you commit the location of your PSC.

Hayden Trans-Cooler (PN 1401). Pick this up online or at your local automotive store (i.e. Kragen). The supplied hose was enough for the relocation.

Barb Hose Mender, 3/8", from OSH. You'll need two of these.

Old OEM Power Steering Fluid (PN G 002 012)

It, doesn't take much to overwhelm the factory steering pump. I'm in Texas and that's one of my next mods. Trust me, when I had my Passat it was fine in Michigan, until I moved to Texas and all of a sudden I'm having to top off my power steering fluid. Not a strong point on VAG cars, a cooler is security and cheap security at that.

I wasn't too keen on twisting/canting the old power steering upward as shown on many FMIC installs. I plan on doing more autox events which require a lot of aggressive steering inputs. I got the idea from ER and a few others that have installed their own PSC (Papachristou comes to mind).

The Racetec bracket did not allow for any room to mount the PSC above the FMIC so I improvised w/ the current location.

I was just about to ask you why you mounted it there.

I agree, its cheap insurance to keep the PS cool... I can always touch my cooler after driving, before it would burn you... ill bet I would have blown the PS pump in that doughnut if I didn't have the cooler...

I don't like those lines on the intercooler but the racetec bracket made it tricky.... I cut out that center car and moved it down then repainted my bracket silver

    looking good!

    Re: Power Steering Cooler Upgrade

That's pretty big for a PS steering cooler. Mine is probably 1/2 that size and works great. I mounted mine on the cold side of the engine bay (near the intake).
