    Audi B6 1.8T Chip

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am thinking about chipping my Audi B6 1.8T. What should I get? How much hp and ft lbs will I add?

Also want to up grade my wheels to 18 x 8 RS4 35mm offset. 235/40/18. How will this set up work? Should I expect any rubbing? My car is stock.

    Thanks

    1) if you're going stage1 apr,giac,revo, doesn't matter its all the same.
    2) yes those will fit. Running exactly the same on mine and lowered no rub

    Re: Audi B6 1.8T Chip

I called this shop (http://www.euautowerks.com/) and they are saying they use these guys (http://www.upsolutetoronto.com/) to do all their chips.

Looks all good to me. But I've just started doing the research.

    Any thoughts?

    Re: Audi B6 1.8T Chip

I'm sure Upsolute is good... I'd consider the big names because they have injector files, though... something you can upgrade to later if you want, for little cost. Upsolute does not have a stage 1+ (that I'm aware of), so you'd be missing out on that option.

I know with APR, stage 1 makes 209 hp and 236 ft/lbs... while adding the 386cc injectors and flashing stage 1+ makes 229hp and 271 ft/lbs. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade... and those figures are on 91 octane, while 93 octane makes more power again (not much).

GIAC and Revo only flashes 91 if I recall correctly.

I have APR 1+ in 91 and 93, though I've only ever used 91... I'd say that I am happy with it, but it is very smooth. I think GIAC 'feels' faster... but I've no idea as to which one is actually faster, on a track. I think GIAC comes on harder, and perhaps dies off quicker... while APR is much smoother. It's all a personal preference thing... I don't think I'd care if I had GIAC 1+ (there injector flash isn't called 1+... it's fx or something) vs APR 1+. Just do the research, you'll find plenty of opinions (people saying their chip is the best).

    Good luck!

    Re: Audi B6 1.8T Chip

I think I am going to go with the GIAC Stage 1+ at Pfaff.

Wondering if I should go 19's instead of 18's. Am I pushing it? I just want to be able to bolt on the new set of wheels, get an alignment and be on my way. Don't want to have to make them fit.

    Any thoughts on that?

    Thanks

18" are good enough. More tire options less expensive then 19" unless you got a lot of $ to spend to be baller.

REVO with the Select Plus switch allows you to adjust the tune settings (Boost, Fuel, Timing) for anything in the range 91-100 Octane.

I feel that on the B6, 19's are the way to go... Considering the B6 (ultrasport) had 18's... 19's are a +1 setup, which is always tasteful. 19" tires are really not that expensive at all anymore, and on a B6, they just look perfect. 20's start to get a little big, although I think the right wheel in 20" would look great on a B6 (think BBS LM).

You won't need an alignment after getting wheels, either... It shouldn't change anything. If you lower, it's always a good idea to get aligned (something I've had on my to-do list for the past several months, haha).

So yeah, 19" wheels in 5x112 with about a 35mm offset is what you're after. You can use any offset from 32 - 42 on a B6, provided the wheel isn't any wider than 8.5". If you don't get offset, just understand that a 32 will stick out 10mm further than a 42.

    Cheers!

Haha, true enough... but as most people have cheap cast wheels, they're all heavy anyhow. 20" forged 2/3 pc is probably lighter than an 18" cast, most of the time.

I have a 19" LM replica... I don't really care about weight, I don't drive my car hard at all.

What size tires do you have on your 19's? Did you have to make any mods to not get any rubbing?

    Thanks

    Re: Audi B6 1.8T Chip

235 35 19 is the proper size for a B6 A4, and I did not need any modification at all to avoid rubbing. I've lowered the car with Neuspeed Sport springs, and am running 235/35/19 Nitto INVO tires on 8.5" wheels with ET35. I've never rubbed with this car... ever.
My b5 A4 rubbed all the bloody time, though. I've been really happy with how the B6 responded to lowering and wheels (barely noticed a difference in harshness, and I went +2 from a 17" stock sport setup).
The suspension made the car a bit more rough, though... obviously. Bilstein sports are to blame, I'm sure. I love it though!

    Re: Audi B6 1.8T Chip

Yeah, wheel diameter makes no difference, if offset and width is the same. You'd just run 235/40/18, which would be the same size as the 19" counterpart.

    19's just look better on a b6. :)

    Re: Audi B6 1.8T Chip

These are the 18's i am looking at:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m32

    and these are the 19's:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m32

If I can find a similar style to either of these with the hyper silver finish i am going to go with 19's. But I don't want chrome.

Any ideas where i can get what i am looking for?

    Re: Audi B6 1.8T Chip

18's you posted are common, but many people like them. I had them on my previous car for a while (04 black USP) and I preferred the stock 18" wheels it came with (b5 RS4 style).

The 19's you posted... they look like BMW M3 wheels... in chrome. Chrome isn't really... uhh... liked... around here. :)

    To each his own, though!

Yeah... avoid chrome for sure. Heavy... ugly... just no good.
The m3 wheels would be weird, too... Hrm.

Do you plan on lowering the car, or no?

Right on. I'd do the "OEM+" as it's been called... just go 19" RS4 or something. It'll be clean, and won't look too goofy on stock sport.

Me likey. Too bad the damned cutouts on the B6 lower bumper wouldn't fit. I wonder if Borla makes that in a 3.5" diameter?

You have to bow down to the exhaust.

If youre not willing to cut holes in the bumper then you must bow down to this

The TT 225's will work -- they are pretty much required... You can use a generic 380cc, but APR designed 1+ around the 386cc TT225 injectors.

    is this an ontario thread?!

just picked up my 03 1.8t yesterday.....good a bunch of things to fix before upgrading, but will add a boost gauge to see if the DV needs to be changed...then i might save up for revo, but I dont want to run into any reliability issues since the car is old and has 173k kms on it..., wanna lower it a bit and go with some 18 or 19 rs4 rims!

ive heard revo is good...after doing some search..many people are happy with revo stage 1 tune

Unitronic, GIAC or APR before Revo imho. Usually go with the best local support. Cheers

I have the stage 1 (not 1+) Unitronic. Is there any increase in performance if I replaced my injectors with the TT225's? If so, does anyone here know the Audi OE part# ?
    Thanks in advanced

lol yup I love reviving posts :p

anyways little update, did all the maintenance stuff, got a forge splitter (which failed after being on 1 week....) took it out and repaired it myself. also installed a boost gauge..

just ordered some caliper decals for my b5 s4 hp2s :)

have an appointment with JRP this fri to get revo but then i'm still not sure which tune to get -.-

also one more question...people say stage 1 tune doesnt really matter, what about reliability issues on the 1.8 engine? its putting out almost twice the boost from stock so i understand that i'll be putting more stress on components but has any body expeirenced any problems ?
