JHM future product for B6/B7 S4s and RS4s (linkage upgrade) NEED YOUR HELP

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys as you may know I already make a shifter for the B6/B7 S4 and RS4 as long as all the other A4s and S4s. I want to compliment the shifter I currently offer with a linkage upgrade like the one I build for the B5 S4. So I need your help.

WHAT I NEED -6-speed linkage rods(2 large and one small cross rod) from a 04 or 05 A4 with a 6 speed trans. 03 was a split year so I do not want them from an 03.

I am not having any luck calling all the popular Audi junkyards like Shokan or 4usedaudiparts.com so I am asking you guys to help me locate these linkage rods so I can build you guys a linkage upgrade like the one pictured below that I make for the B5 S4.

So if you are working on a build and can send me yours for 2 to 4 weeks or if you come accross them please email me at [email protected]

B5 S4 linkage, the B6/B7 one will look similar

Thanks in advance for your help

Feel free to email me at [email protected]. We have some B5 platform stuff up and running and need to get more testers to broaden our files we have available.

We actually make a pretty solid tip chip for the B5 S4 and C5 A6 right now. Just haven't been publicizing it, I am a perfectionist and like to take my time to confirm how well the software works long term. As we progress we will be getting into the newer more complicated TCU programming.

Received one as of today. My current design is about 80% the same. So I should have the first one done in a couple weeks. Hopefully the guy who helped us out can install it and test fit it soon so I can bring it to market.

    Thanks again AZers.

Re: JHM future product for B6/B7 S4s and RS4s (linkage upgrade) NEED YOUR HELP

Prototype is completed and I sent it back to the volunteer for testing.

Here are some pics of it. I also made a delrin stabilizer bushing for the other shift rod as well.

Once I get confirmation of its fitment I will be adding them to my site.

The new JHM "solid" linkage upgrade. Price will be $189.99

Here is the JHM Delrin Stabilizer Bushing (replaces the soft OEM rubber bushing) For more positive engagement. Price will be $29.99.

I have made these 2 products for the B5 S4 for about a year now, so if you are curious about reviews search the B5 S4 forum. Their setup for linkage is 95% identical to this.

Thanks again to those who helped make this possible.

Really??? I spoke to a guy at a local meet last weekend and he said the install was easy. He said the longest part of the install was watching the video... I drove the car definitely like that tight feel of the shifter compared to stock

The linkage upgrades are not very accessible when the car is all together. We can do it in the car, but by lowering the cradle and geting inventive with tools. Definitely harder to do than a shifter by a bunch. Like with the B5 S4 6-speeds I am expecting most people to do these upgrades when their transmission is already out for a clutch job or a motor pull if someone is going all out on a build. Which is going to become more regular as these cars age.

Here is a video of how the linkage all works on the B5 S4 - 100% the same in the operation, just some parts are different. As you will see the parts are right on top, not the easiest to get to. -->http://audishifter.com/videos/Extern...peed_trans.wmv

Yeah, it generally depends on the car. The 5-speed shifters are a cake walk. The B5 S4 6-speeds are pretty easy. The B6 A4 6-speed is relatively difficult but the B6/B7 S4 is just a PITA to get the Reverse and 1st-2nd right. I have done them all and the B6/B7 S4 is just more difficult to get the adjustment right, thanks to our friends at Audi.

What kind of car was this guys??

Thanks for the compliments on its shifting by the way.

ahhh.... when I hear things like this it makes me nervous about the install. I'm planning on ordering one in the next two weeks or so, but with minimal DIY experience I'm worried about losing my reverse or something similarly ridiculous...

Jason, I will install the new base on Monday just waiting on the angle tool from my buddy. I will have lots of pictures for you, also working on the shifter parts from the A5 for you.

The actual install is decently straight forward if you watch my video. The adjustment just takes trial and error and patience. I sell the angle guage now for $15, just not on my site yet. But even with that you sometimes need to move it a 1/16" or so here and there to get it just right.
