Strange Audi Phone Calls....

Yesterday evening, I received a call from Audi with some automated message telling me my warranty was about to expire. I have a 2006 CPO A4, which should be covered until 2010 or 50k miles (I have 27k). Not only that, I called AoA before I did my 25k mile service just to confirm that the dealer shouldn't charge me, and the woman I spoke alsop confirmed my warranty expires in 2010.

The wording of the call was something along the lines of "...your warranty is expiring. If we do not hear from you soon, we will close the file." What does that mean?! I hope closing the file doesn't mean something bad for my warranty, and it really means they're gonna not be idiots and stop bothering me. This is the 3rd call I've received, and when it prompts me to press 1 to speak to a service rep, nothing ever happens.

Anyone had this before??? The phone number was a 215 area code, I believe.

Yes, it's a sales call. They're bullshit and they tell you that and sound official so you'll call them back and they can try to sell you some piece of shit warranty that won't cover shit anyway. I get them all the time along with a lot of official looking paper work in the mail.

I've heard that these calls may be done by a company independent from Audi and could very well be on the same lines as "telemarketing".

Another friend of mine got a call like this recently...to tell him that his car (1980s Mazda 323 4-Speed Manual) warranty was about to expire. His answer to them was "what warranty? I never had one."

Yeah, it's a scam... I've read about it. I don't remember if they're actually trying to sell you something, or if they ask for information they use for identity theft. In either case, pay no mind to these losers.

btw, your cpo warranty should last beyond 2010 and 50k miles.

Your car is an 06, so I would assume you bought it in 06. The original warranty would be 4 years 50k miles, which makes it expire in 2010 or 50k miles. CPO warranty addes 2 years and 50k miles to it, so your warranty should expire in 2012, or 100k miles, which ever comes first. Of course, the CPO warranty only covers major parts of the car like powertrain, and is no where as exhaustive as your original warranty.

Auto Warrranty companies buy lists from the DMV and the dealers.
They are not even remotley associated with AOA. It's a telemarketing scam.

WOW. i got that call yesterday guy said he was from like "atlantic insurance" or something, he told me that i had to renew my warranty or it was going to expire when i explained that i had a factory warranty and pre-owned certified warranty that came with the car he got very quite. i then asked him to call me back because i was busy and he said he was going to close my file. I than laughed and hung up

I get this every once in a while but it doesn't ever use the word Audi. Just says "You're not too late! ...blah blah blah". The weird thing is about half the time it doesn't even ring, I will just all of a sudden have the recording as a new voicemail. I really wish I could talk to somebody there!

It's the DMV's fault, not Audi; I think what these telemarketers do is find out the year of the car, and assume our cars only have a 3 year/36k mile warranty - proves how stupid they are not to do some simple research to find that our cars have better. I highly doubt dealers would misrepresent a warranty period they are familiar with, but then again..............

Gotta be honest, I wasn't expecting this many replies! Sorry to hear this has been such a nuisance for everyone, but at least we're gettin' it out in the open now.

If it were Audi giving out info don't you think they'd at least know how long the warranty should last? Including CPO etc...
