    Oil Filter???

So is it common practice just to use factory oil filters? I looked for aftermarket (Mobil 1) for my 2003 3.0L but the only one I found was Purolator or Wix. I also used Mobil 1 oil, hope that's acceptable. Thanks a lot!

    Re: Oil Filter???

Buy the Audi oil filters (larger new style), I believe they are made by MANN, you can find them for varying prices on the web, ECS sells them and most of the other major tunning companies..

All new replacement filters should be the larger size.

    Re: Oil Filter???

Yeah, use the larger sized filter, to help prevent the sludge problems with the 1.8T engine.

We have a selection of OEM filters available, also available in 5 or 10 packs:

But that's for the 1.8...Mobil 1 does not currently make an oil filter for the 3.0

Anyone run Napa Gold? They are made by WIX. Supposed to be a good product.

    Re: Oil Filter???

The big thing is that you should change the oil filter every 5000 miles with your oil, so you don't really need to get all excited or attached to your oil filter. The key is to change it and get the right size. With that said, I'm not at all implying you get a Fram or similar, but get one that is approved and cheap, if you drive your car with reasonable frequency, it won't be on for too long.
