    Quick bumper question...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Which bumper has the most room behind it for an FMIC, the stoock USP, or the stock S4 bumper cover. I need to pick one and I am leaning towards the S4 (less expensive), but I have a FMIC and want to know which will clear it easier.

No I do not want to go reiger, otte etc Thanks for all you input!

    Re: Quick bumper question...

What kind of FMIC do you have? My AWE fit fine with very little trimming on the stock bumper.. well very little necessary trimming.. oops

    Re: Quick bumper question...

I have a universal fit FMIC, but I had to space it away from the condenser about 35mm so my inlet and outlet connections would not hit the condenser.

    Re: Quick bumper question...

The rebar for the S4 is the same as the stock bumper so the distance between the condenser and bumper rebar won't change... I believe the USP bumper is a different rebar... but not sure.. or is the issue on the bottom?

    Re: Quick bumper question...

The spacing I am looking ofr is below the rebar, I inquired and the S4 amd A4 use the same rebar, I had to mod the rebar anyway so that part is out of the way. The concern is the lower half of the bumper and the space, my wife's A4 is running a evolution FMIC which is smaller than mine in height so it was put up against the condenser, and with the stock bumper it is a tight fit. From pics I was able to find it would appear the S4 bumper may have more space in the lower.......

    Re: Quick bumper question...

I think the USP bumper has a little more room at the bottom, whereas the S4 bumper curves a little back.

    Re: Quick bumper question...

would you say both the USP and the S4 have more clearance than the stock A4 bumper?

    Re: Quick bumper question...

Subscribed.. I've got a USP lower on the way. My Reiger bumper had to be cut quite a bit in order to fit around the couplers connecting to the core. Hoping the USP won't be quite the same.

    Re: Quick bumper question...

awsome, I think it is a useful thing to know, for those who want to either add a FMIC and keep a stockish look. I had the same problems with the reiger front, I hacked it up quite a bit and was not happy with the look, also the fit to the fender is always a little off looking. Besides you can keep the stock side skirts with the S4 bumper, whereas the reiger looks a little funny. i also think the s4 bumper will be more practical for the winter driving.
