    Hi,

anyone knows the ECU number for a 2002 1.8t FWD 5 speed?

a local giac tuner has some custom files for the gt28rs and I need my ecu code so he can check if they are compatible with my car... I know, I should get my ecu and see for myself, but my car is @ body shop....

    Re: ECU Number

Look on top of the ECU or use Vagcom to pull the number. Should be something like this 8E0 909 518 E or F, but this is for quattro, I'm not sure if they'll interchange.

    Re: ECU Number

Is that your car (2002 1.8T FWD)? Open up Vag-Com and look at the p/n on the Engine Controller. Or, open up your ECu cover and look at the P/N ontop of the ECu.

EDIT: Chris beat me to it

He's still around. Just doesn't post as often as he used to. He'll chime in on a thread when he feels its necessary.

Call the dealer with your VIN and they should be able to give you a part #.

fwiw, even if they have a custom file - it's for the wrong turbo.
you don't have a GT28RS - you have the GTRS eliminator.

    Re: ECU Number

a similar ecu with the right programming can be substituted for some models. So if you car came with an E and they(dealer) decide to replace it with a more modern one with whatever magic; don't be suprised. the B6 was a hodge podge; i wouldn't trust vin-splits just go take a look on vag-com
