Heat in Drivers Side Foot Well

I posted this question a while back, and didn't get a huge response. I hope this time around maybe someone can chime in and help me figure this out.

I have included a picture of what seems to be the 'item" causing all the heat.



The metal pipe looking item, right above the foot vents is extremely hot! There for when I am driving it heats up that foot vent and blows hot air into my foot well! Even some of the side panel (the lower console) gets heated as well.

Anyone know the culprit or have any suggestions?

I was told by my friend that he thinks that is where the heater exchange is and mine might be stuck open or clogged.

exhaust heat... you feel it alot more in the summer. after driving for long periods without a/c the foot well always get hot.

See and that is what I though too, no big deal. But non of my friends cars get that warm....

Plus, why would just that "pipe" looking part get that hot while the rest is just semi-hot?

If it was the exahust then that whole section would roughly the same temp.

I noticed the same thing on my car, but I felt it on the passenger side.
