I think I have a pcv problem.. Need some confirmation sorry for the long post

Ok so here it goes. For the past couple weeks I start my car for let's say 30 seconds and then just pull off. As I pull off it seems as my car is bogging out (for lack of a better term). It almost feels like when you let the clutch out a little too early and your car starts to jerk forward. This happens when I am not in boost. Also when I am WOT in second gear my car spikes to about 18 psi then drops below 15 while I am closing in on red line. However in third gear I spike to 20 psi and hold 15 to red line. Lastly while I am WOT there is a loud whistling sound which sounds like someone squealing while fluttering their tongue. If that makes any sense.

Anyway I thought it was the DV at first after hearing the loud fluttering sound but when I installed my boost gauge and saw that I was holding boost pretty well I have come to believe that it is my PCV. Also I don't think my car would bog out and jerk forward as I first start it and start driving if it was just the DV. However I could be wrong.

I apologize for the long post but any help is appreciated. I plan to get the car on the lift this weekend and check the DV while I install my test pipe. But if I can narrow down the problem to the pcv then I will switch that out when I install my TP.

Thanks for the help fellas. Sorry for such a long post just wanted to make sure my description was sufficient in order to receive some feedback.

Do you have a check engine light? If its not the pcv or dv then I would check for a boost leak along the hose that connects to your boost gauge. Start at the engine at the back where its connected and see if the hose is cracked or loose. Hope this helps and I hope its an easy fix.

just to be sure, will our cars throw out a CEL if the PCV or diverter valve are having issues? meaning will a CEL come on ALWAYS or could it go unnoticed by the ECU?

Alright thanks for the information fellas. I'm going to check the DV when I get the car on the lift this weekend. I'm also going to check my line for my boost gauge to make sure I don't have a leak there. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks.

quick check for the breather, loosen your oil fill cap and start the engine. if you cant pull the cap up then you verry likely need a breather. a bad breather should set a light and would make a squeeling noise much like a serp. belt.

My '08 is experiencing the same issue... for the first 30-60 secs or so, the car feels like it's running on a few less cylinders. Stuttering and bogging out... even when applying the gas very gently. Afterwards, it runs great.

    Any tips?

Mine's at the dealer right now for similar symptoms. They diagnosed it as the intake-flapper motor failure and the PCV valve. Might want to look at those.

I'll second that. Looks like a better design for a boosted engine.
