    Boost leak or Limp mode????

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
O.K. I really don't know if I just have a boost leak or I'm in limp mode. I don't have any codes right now but I'm only getting 5psi and my tip trani is sort of sluggish on the shifting.
I have an FMIC and a 007 DV valve and a cheapo cone filter mod. thats it.
    Any help

    probably both my friend!
the 5psi that your getting is defiantly limp mode
and the boost leak is probably the cause. if it is a boost leak!

Re: Boost leak or Limp mode????

boost leak will not cause limp mode ALL the time, but i believe that if it is pretty big then it would throw you into limp. many many things can cause limp mode. its your car telling you that there is a problem. you can either take it somewhere to get it checked out and fixed or you can take it to your nearest kragen (or any other establishment that will vag your car) and have them vag it and search for the problem here on the forums.

to reset your car just take off the positive terminal on your battery for like 15-20 min and that will reset fyour ride most of the time. somtimes it won't help. also, make sure that you have the radio codes for your car or else you will be driving in silence.

Re: Boost leak or Limp mode????

Well I hate to say this one of my couplings let go while I was driving so there was a giant boost leak. And about limp mode I heard that my car doesn't have it I have a 1999.5 A4 B5 1.8T Quattro. I tried that battery thing don't know if it worked because last week my car started overheating not sure if the problems are related but I don't think so. Now I have a boost pressure gauge and it reads about 5 or 6 psi doesnt seem to go past that. I also read that my check engine light would come on if I had a problem it is not on however.
Even more however though I do have a code but it is PO117 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor Circuit Low Input. So can that through it into limp mode that is if I have limp mode.
And just by chance will the coolant temp sensor fix this I use the blue square one and i got a replacement for it, because like I said my car is also overheating recently. I have a new Tstat and water pump seems to be working on the count that my heat works inside( a fellow audizine member told me that if the heater works then most likely your water pump works.

Anyway let me know guys I need my car back before I go back to school.
